Welcome to tonight’s game against Wynyard.
Congratulations to Maddie Atkins on playing her 100th Senior NWBU game for Burnie against Latrobe. When Maddie is on song there would not be a better three point shooter in the competition.
The women’s team recorded their first win of the season last week against Smithton. With an undermanned squad the girls did a great job to get the points. Against Latrobe on Tuesday they were leading by 10 points at half time. Unfortunately a bad 3rd quarter (13 to 34 points) turned the game completely around.
Tonight against Wynyard it will be a very close affair, with the girls determined to get the points.
Our Tornadoes import Tayla Roberts will suit up for her first game against Ulverstone next Friday night.
The men’s team is travelling very nicely at this stage of the season. Offensively there is an even spread of scorers. Against Latrobe there were 6 players scoring double figures. Team defence has been the men’s strength, causing many headaches for the opposition.
As all clashes against Wynyard, it will be a very physical affair.
Saturday March 19th will be the highlight on the year. It is the BBA Players Concert ‘Burnie’s Got Talent”. It will be great to see as many of our supporters as possible to make it a memorable night for the club. Not only will you see our talented players perform on stage , but also see the committee strut their stuff. I know Raelene and Jaci just cant wait!!!!
The Local Junior rosters started last week. Numbers in most age groups was pleasing, however, there are still room for more juniors to come along. The turn up for the Beginners (Kinder,Prep and Grade 1) was outstanding. The Beginner Girls will strut their stuff tonight during half time in the women’s game. Any Juniors interested in playing in our local roster, contact either Raelene or Jules for more information.
All supporters, players, opposition and referees are most welcome to come into the clubrooms after each game and share some wonderful supper organised by Maxine and the girls.
