1. Activity Report for “Real-Time AV Data Recording Format”

2. Current Status
● Application data format for RTRW(Real-Time ReWritable)
Video Recording is discussing on DVD Forum WG1/TG2.
● WG1/TG2 raised some technical issues as follow;
- How to guarantee a minimum bit rate on AV data recording
- How to manage defective sectors detected on AV data recording
● WG1/TG3 will start to discuss the similar technical issues for
making “Digital Streamer format”.
● For clarifying these technical requirements, WG1/Ad-hoc8 was
established.

3. Activities of WG1/Ad-hoc8
● The first WG1/Ad-hoc8 meeting was held on July 23.
● This ad-hoc will study these technical requirements
in three viewpoints as follows;
(1) AV file (extent) Allocation Method
(2) Defect Management Method
(3) Interface Protocol and Commands on PC environments
● The clarification of these technical requirements should be
finished within 3 months after starting this ad-hoc.
● The clarified requirements will be discussed and solved in
the preferable WG (such as WG3 & WG5) and others.

4. Summary ● WG1/Ad-hoc8 will describe some technical requirements
for Interface Protocol and Commands for both “RTRW
Video Recording format” and “Digital Streamer format”.
● The interface issues will be related closely with Mt.Fuji
meeting activities.
● These issues should be discussed in Mt.Fuji3 meeting
immediately after the completion of WG1/Ad-hoc8.
