1 Tech Level 3 Cyber Security
AO1 1a, 1c. AO2 2a.

2 Learning Objectives Learners must be able to:
identify different types of: personal computers multi-user computers. identify the components of the Central Processing Unit (CPU) identify the features which: are identical for all computers differentiate the types of computers describe the purpose and structure of the components of the CPU.

3 Assessment Outcomes Assessment outcome 1 – Identify the different types of computer. 1A – The features of personal computers 1C – The features of multi-user computers Assessment outcome 2 – Understand and evaluate the hardware requirements of a computer system. 2A – The internal components of a CPU including their purpose

5 Lesson structure This is a normal lesson You will complete:
Pre-Reading Group Research Discussion Group Analysis of appropriate computers for given scenarios (Grade C) Summer Project - Homework

6 Pre-Reading Task Make notes on the following pre-reading topics:
Single User Computers, Single Applications Single User Computers, Multitasking Multi User Computers, Multitasking

7 Graded Exercises: Individual Tasks
Grade C Define single user and multi user systems. Explain when a single user system is required Explain when a multi user system is required Define the term multitasking Explain when multitasking is required. What are the features of a single user system? What are the features of a multi-user system? Analyse and describe the difference between a single user and a multi-user system. When setting up a school computer network a mixture of single user and multi-user systems will be required. What are they and why are they required?

8 Graded Exercises: Group discussion
Grade C Define single user and multi user systems. Explain when a single user system is required Explain when a multi user system is required Define the term multitasking Explain when multitasking is required. What is a ‘Mainframe’? Define the following: Micro-computer Tablet Computer Super Computer What are the features of a single user system? What are the features of a multi-user system? Analyse and describe the difference between a single user and a multi-user system. When setting up a school computer network a mixture of single user and multi-user systems will be required. What are they and why are they required? When using applications for personal use including , diary, spreadsheets, databases, word processors, and web access should a single or multi-user system be installed? Why? When using for governments and research e.g. storing and manipulating large volumes of data for online bookings and enquiries, payroll, weather prediction, simulators should a single or multi-user system be installed? Why?

9 Purpose of the cpu

10 Summer project Your summer project is simple:
Demonstrate your understanding of 2A - The internal components of a CPU including their purpose Create an annotated poster on a4 that shows: The main components of a CPU Descriptions of the purpose of each component Descriptions of different types of CPU (Mutli-core, single core)
