Simple steps to purchase a permit to park on campus SMU Parking and ID Card Services Office or

2 Consider your needs Parking on campus is limited
Consider your needs Parking on campus is limited. Vehicles should only be brought to campus when essential. A vehicle is not always necessary. Please visit our website for more information on alternative transportation options and programs like; SMU Express shuttle, DART transit passes and ZipCar. A permit is required to park a vehicle on campus. Purchase of a permit does not guarantee the availability of a parking space.

3 Online SMU Student Permit purchase
Customer Log in You must be registered for hours to log on to your “My Parking Account”. Select the SMU LOGIN button. Enter your SMU ID number and password Please do not create a guest account, you will not be able to purchase a student permit.

4 Your Parking Account To purchase a permit please select
Select “Order Permits”. Other options listed on this screen allow to you manage other aspects of your vehicle information and parking account. However, addresses, phone numbers and address can only be updated on my.SMU.edu Please have your vehicle plate number, if a temp plate you will need the VIN number, vehicle make, model, color and year before you proceed.

This screen just confirms your enrollment. No change is needed. Please select “next” and continue.

7 Permit selection Campus residents, Non-Resident and Fall Only students
If you are a campus resident and will not bring a vehicle to campus. You may select the “Opt-Out” of permit option, complete the permit agreement and select next to continue. First step – What academic year do you need? The first two digits in the permit indicate the year the permit expires. Example 2017 permit starts with “17” Second Step- Do you live on campus or off campus? Students living off campus select the “Non-Resident” option with a “1” for the third digit in the permit number and non- resident in the description. Students living on campus select the “Campus Resident” option with a “2” for the third digit. If living in a sorority or fraternity proof of residency is required. Students graduating or studying aboard may select a fall only non-resident permit option based on their enrollment which expires on Dec 31st. No resident Fall option available. Third Step- Are you enrolled for full time or part time credit hours? If you are enrolled for 9 credit hours or less select the “part time” permit option fee for the year and permit type you need. If you are registered for 10 credit hours or greater, please select the “full time” permit option fee. for the year and permit type you need. Please complete the permit agreement at the bottom of the screen and select “next” to continue.

8 Permit Selection SMU Law Students
Students enrolled for classes in Dedman School for Law First step – What academic year do you need? The first two digits in the permit indicate the year the permit expires. Example 2017 permit starts with “17” Second Step- Do you live on campus or off campus? Students living off campus select the Law School permit option with a “N” for the third digit in the permit number. Students living on campus have the option to select the “Campus Resident” option with a “2” for the third digit, to park in resident and AUP locations or may select the Law Permit which is valid only in the Daniel Parking Center or AUP areas but not resident locations. If not bringing a vehicle to campus , Resident Law Students may Opt-Out of a permit if they will not have a vehicle on campus. Dedman Law permits are inclusive in the program for enrolled law students, Please complete the permit agreement at the bottom of the screen and select “next” to continue.

9 Confirm or Update Your Vehicle Information
1. Please follow the steps to add your vehicle information or select a vehicle already registered and select “next” to continue 2. More than one vehicle can be registered but the permit must be displayed on the vehicle brought to campus. 3. Permits are repositionable and required to be placed on the vehicle brought to campus. If a permit is lost or left in another vehicle. Temporary permits and replacement decals are available in our office only for an additional fee.

10 Selecting your mailing Address
Please select or add the delivery address option. Permits are mailed USPS and can take 5 to 10 days for delivery. Pick up in the office is not available. Select the address for your confirmation. SMU addresses are preferred. s are sent from Please select “next” to continue

11 Viewing your shoping cart
1.This screen will allow you to view your order before continuing. 2.The amount shown if applicable will post to you’re my.SMU.edu account 24 – 48 hours later for payment. 3. Citations and any other items are also paid on my.SMU.edu so do not add to the cart here. If you are satisfied with the permit ordered, please select “next” to continue.

12 Payment information This screen allows to see and confirm the final amount that will post to your my.SMU.edu Please select “next” to complete your order.

13 Your order is now complete
This screen is the final screen for your transaction. It confirms your purchase. If you wish a copy of this order for your records, please select Print the page hyperlink at the top of the page The permit you have been issued and will be mailed is referenced under description Select the “Print Temporary Permit Now” to print a permit to use for up to 10 days while your permit is mailed to the address you selected. You will not be able to return to this screen later. Be sure to print before you log out.

14 Your email confirmation
You will receive an confirmation of the order within a short time after you place the order. The Print Temporary Permit Now hyperlink will appear again in the . You must print the temporary permit with 3 days of receipt. If your permit does not arrive in 10 days please visit the parking office for a replacement. Thank you for your order!
