3 Support In The Classroom Tier I and Tier II
Classroom Identification Tier II Intervention: 3 weeks of data Meet with colleagues for suggestions & resources for interventions Review data with RTI Team (after 6 weeks of Tier II classroom intervention) Classroom teacher involves parents It all starts in the classroom! Teachers monitor students’ learning and if they have concerns about progress in a particular area, provide extra instruction in the classroom

Screening and Tier II, Tier III decisions are made collaboratively by a school-based RTI Team that includes: Teacher (s) Interventionist (s) Administrator Others (may include) Student, Parent, Specialists

5 What is the criteria used for Tier II classroom support?
Use multiple measures to review patterns of achievement (NWEA, common assessments, state assessments, grades 6-12?) Use consistent criteria (For standardized assessments 34%ile range or lower; For common assessments pattern of scores in 1-2 range) EXAMPLE: end unit assessment – look at other measures to determine whether this is a pattern of achievement that may require specific types of intervention –how to reteach Below 34%ile means in lowest third of achievement range for grade level Common assessment scores of 2 Partially Meets (usually within a year below grade level expectation) or 1 Does Not Meet (usually more than a year below grade level expectation)

6 Tier II Classroom Intervention Based on assessment data :
NWEA Grade Level Common End of Unit Assessments SAMPLE assessment data IF NOT successful after two rounds of Tier II intervention…

7 The RTI Team reviews data and determines if the student needs Tier III support
Letter indicates who will be providing support, what skills will be addressed and when the student’s progress will be reviewed. Letter sent home to parents from the math interventionist. Tier III support with an interventionist. Communication with parents by classroom teacher (after a 6-week intervention period)

8 Is there follow up monitoring?
Yes, during monthly reviews of data by Teacher & Interventionist (or RTI Team) Parents receive progress reports from interventionist Over the last 2.5 years we have worked together within and across schools to develop an RTI system that is consistent across district AND WE HAVE! It may look a little different in each school but all follow this process - Each principal will now describe how RTI IS working in their schools currently –
