This year Africa University celebrates its 25th anniversary! Do you know why Africa University is a United Methodist-Related Institution?

2. General Conference 1988 Established AU
Africa University was established by the 1988 General Conference of The United Methodist Church. In 1992 the University opened its doors and in 1994 graduated its first class. Since then AU has graduated more than 5,000 students from 27 countries!

7. There are eight academic units at AU
There are eight academic units at AU. They are: Health, Agriculture & Natural Sciences, Social Sciences, Theology, Humanities and Education, Business, Peace, Leadership and Governance.

8. Graduates from Africa University become the new leaders equipped to address the challenges that face Africa and the world abroad. Your generous giving has made a real difference in the lives of students and left lasting effects that have shaped a brighter future for the continent of Africa.

9. Thanks to the combined generosity from the people from this church and the rest of the Desert Southwest Conference churches, the Joel Huffman Endowed Chair of Public Health Medicine in the Faculty of Health Sciences was fully funded with $500,000 in A 40-person delegation traveled to the University to be a part of the dedication ceremony.

10. The endowed chair equips the Faculty of Health Sciences with additional resources to carry out crucial research. It allows the University to bring in specialists to lecture and supervise students working on public health concerns like high maternal and infant mortality rates.

11. Are we done with Africa University?
As a denomination, we have done great work through Africa University and we want to celebrate your generosity and all we’ve accomplished together. But you know what? After all these years, God continues to inspire big dreams for Africa University and its students.

In churches, funds can be raised through special offerings, the mission budget can support AU for a certain number of years, groups with special interests in the church such as United Methodist Men, United Methodist Women, and Youth, can organize an endowment legacy and event fund raisers such as soup suppers and car washes.
