1 GLOBAL FOOTPRINT: RESOURCE AND PROGRAMS
Talking points: Together, we determine which solutions work best in order to reach as many children as possible wherever we work. And we’re going to keep doing this and refining our approach as we move forward. Since 1982 Operation Smile has extended its global reach to more than 60 countries through its network of credentialed surgeons, pediatricians, doctors, nurses, and student volunteers. All countries categorized by program type. PROGRAM COUNTRIES ERADICATION OF THE PATIENT BACKLOG Cambodia Dominican Republic Guatemala Honduras Nicaragua South Africa Thailand Vietnam INCREASING SURGICAL CAPACITY Brazil China Colombia Democratic Republic of the Congo India Madagascar Philippines Rwanda SUSTAINED PROGRAMMING Bolivia Ecuador Egypt Ethiopia Ghana Jordan Kenya Malawi Mexico Morocco Myanmar Panama Paraguay Peru Russia Venezuela West Bank/Gaza Strip RESOURCE COUNTRIES Australia Canada Ireland Italy Japan South Korea Sweden Switzerland United Arab Emirates United Kingdom United States

2 GLOBAL FOOTPRINT: STRATEGIC PRIORITIES
Talking points: Operation Smile focuses on three strategic areas to increase access to patient care in resource-poor environments: Increasing Surgical Capacity, Eradication of Patient Backlog and Sustained Programming in each country. Increasing Surgical Capacity: In these countries, Operation Smile is increasing human resources for health, expanding surgical services, and executing targeted education and training programs. Eradication of Patient Backlog: To Operation Smile, every person living with a cleft lip and/or cleft palate is one too many. In our 34 years of experience, we have come to understand our role in the surgical delivery arena and our responsibility in executing premier care for some of the most marginalized populations around the world. In these countries, Operation Smile programs have positioned the organization to set a goal of ensuring no one is waiting for cleft lip and/or cleft palate surgery within the next five years. Sustained Programming: Operation Smile will continue to execute surgical missions and education and training programming in these countries. These categories are fluid and the intention is for, with continual strategic programming, countries to move into more progressed categories, elevating healthcare deliveries in countries as a whole. ERADICATION OF THE PATIENT BACKLOG Cambodia Dominican Republic Guatemala Honduras Nicaragua South Africa Thailand Vietnam INCREASING SURGICAL CAPACITY Brazil China Colombia Democratic Republic of the Congo India Madagascar Philippines Rwanda SUSTAINED PROGRAMMING Bolivia Ecuador Egypt Ethiopia Ghana Jordan Kenya Malawi Mexico Morocco Myanmar Panama Paraguay Peru Russia Venezuela West Bank/Gaza Strip
