1 James 2:16

2 Faith is Belief & Commitment
You believe that there is one God. You do well. Even the demons believe—and tremble! James 2:19

3 Faith is Belief & Commitment
But without faith it is impossible to please Him, for he who comes to God must believe that He is, and that He is a rewarder of those who diligently seek Him. 7 By faith Noah, being divinely warned of things not yet seen, moved with godly fear, prepared an ark for the saving of his household, by which he condemned the world and became heir of the righteousness which is according to faith. Hebrews 11:6-7

4 the practical side of faith.
James points out the practical side of faith. For as the body without the spirit is dead, so faith without works is dead also. James 2:26

5 the practical side of faith.
James points out the practical side of faith. You see then that a man is justified by works, and not by faith only. James 2:24

6 Faith must be active in coping with external trials
For we have spent enough of our past lifetime in doing the will of the Gentiles—when we walked in lewdness, lusts, drunkenness, revelries, drinking parties, and abominable idolatries. 4 In regard to these, they think it strange that you do not run with them in the same flood of dissipation, speaking evil of you. 1 Peter 4:3-4

7 Faith must be active in coping with external trials
When David saw that his servants were whispering, David perceived that the child was dead. Therefore David said to his servants, “Is the child dead?” And they said, “He is dead.” 20 So David arose from the ground, washed and anointed himself, and changed his clothes; and he went into the house of the Lord and worshiped. Then he went to his own house; and when he requested, they set food before him, and he ate.

8 Faith must be active in coping with external trials
Then his servants said to him, “What is this that you have done? You fasted and wept for the child while he was alive, but when the child died, you arose and ate food.” 22 And he said, “While the child was alive, I fasted and wept; for I said, ‘Who can tell whether the Lord will be gracious to me, that the child may live?’

9 Faith must be active in coping with external trials
23 But now he is dead; why should I fast? Can I bring him back again? I shall go to him, but he shall not return to me.” 2 Samuel 12:19-23

10 Faith must be active in coping with external trials
When I have brought them to the land flowing with milk and honey, of which I swore to their fathers, and they have eaten and filled themselves and grown fat, then they will turn to other gods and serve them; and they will provoke Me and break My covenant. Deuteronomy 31:20

11 Faith must be active in coping with external trials
5 I knew you in the wilderness, In the land of great drought. 6 When they had pasture, they were filled; They were filled and their heart was exalted; Therefore they forgot Me. Hosea 13:5-6

12 Faith must be active in coping with external trials
knowing that the testing of your faith produces patience. James 1:3

13 Faith must be active in coping with external trials
13 Let no one say when he is tempted, “I am tempted by God”; for God cannot be tempted by evil, nor does He Himself tempt anyone. James 1:13

14 Faith must be active in coping with external trials
Brethren, if anyone among you wanders from the truth, and someone turns him back, 20 let him know that he who turns a sinner from the error of his way will save a soul from death and cover a multitude of sins. James 5:19-20

15 Faith must be active in coping with external trials
Whoever commits sin also commits lawlessness, and sin is lawlessness. 1 John 3:4

16 Faith must be active in coping with external trials
Therefore, to him who knows to do good and does not do it, to him it is sin. James 4:17

17 Faith must be active in coping with external trials
Let no one say when he is tempted, “I am tempted by God”; for God cannot be tempted by evil, nor does He Himself tempt anyone. 14 But each one is tempted when he is drawn away by his own desires and enticed. James 1:13-14

18 Faith must be active in coping with external trials
But I discipline my body and bring it into subjection, lest, when I have preached to others, I myself should become disqualified. 1 Corinthians 9:27

19 Faith must be active in coping with external trials
For whatever is born of God overcomes the world. And this is the victory that has overcome the world—our faith. 1 John 5:4

20 Faith must be active in coping with external trials
And the world is passing away, and the lust of it; but he who does the will of God abides forever. 1 John 2:17

21 Faith must be active in a daily religion
Keep your heart with all diligence, For out of it spring the issues of life. Proverbs 4:23

22 Faith must be active in a daily religion
For as he thinks in his heart, so is he. “Eat and drink!” he says to you, But his heart is not with you. Proverbs 23:7

23 Faith must be active in a daily religion
Every good gift and every perfect gift is from above, and comes down from the Father of lights, with whom there is no variation or shadow of turning. James 1:17

24 Faith must be active in a daily religion
Of His own will He brought us forth by the word of truth, that we might be a kind of firstfruits of His creatures. James 1:18

25 Faith must be active in a daily religion
But he who looks into the perfect law of liberty and continues in it, and is not a forgetful hearer but a doer of the work, this one will be blessed in what he does. James 1:25

26 Faith must be active in a daily religion
22 But be doers of the word, and not hearers only, deceiving yourselves. 23 For if anyone is a hearer of the word and not a doer, he is like a man observing his natural face in a mirror; 24 for he observes himself, goes away, and immediately forgets what kind of man he was. 25 But he who looks into the perfect law of liberty and continues in it, and is not a forgetful hearer but a doer of the work, this one will be blessed in what he does James 1:22-25

27 Conclusion The Christian lives by faith
For we walk by faith, not by sight. 2 Corinthians 5:7

28 Conclusion Faith is the Christian’s strength in coping with external or internal problems For whatever is born of God overcomes the world. And this is the victory that has overcome the world—our faith. 1 John 5:4

29 Conclusion God’s word is the source of faith
So then faith comes by hearing, and hearing by the word of God. Romans 10:17
