My Ideas Created By Benjaman Green

2 Idea One What’s My Product?
I will be producing a 3D landscape of a lake, with a small shack, multiple trees, multiple mountains protecting the lake and much more 3D modelling as well as terrain forming inside Unreal Engine.

3 Idea One Why? I want to do follow up with this idea because I want to become a level editor one day so I want to be 100% confident in creating simple 3D models as well as being able to form a terrain to my liking. I've always loved forming terrain at home using Unreal Engine, being able to create a world of my own with tall mountains, dark hills, different coloured skies and oceans. Since I've had a lot of experience in creating 3D landscapes, I'm pretty sure I can do a good job at it as my final major project.

4 Idea One Why is it important to me?
This is kind of discussed in the previous slide. I've always loved forming terrain in my free time at home using Unreal Engine, I want to be able to create multiple 3D models that would be placed in forests such as trees, possible a small house or shack, lakes etc. I want to pursue the path of becoming a level editor, so I believe by doing this as my final major project, it would help me understand more about becoming a level editor.

5 Idea One What skills am I going to be using?
I'm going to be using multiple skills within 3D modelling such as unwrapping, texturing, bevel, extruding, duplicating etc. I'm going to be using these skills since these skills will be needed when creating my 3D models such as trees and a shack within my level. I was thinking of adding sound but that might take up too much time if I don't have enough at the end, all I need to show is a level of a lake. One more skill that I would be using is terrain forming, I will be raising and lowering the terrain to create mountains as well as creating a path, I'll also be painting the textures onto my level to create mountains and paths.

6 Idea One Who is my target audience?
My target audience is aimed at young teens since my game’s genre is adventure. The age rating wouldn't be too high since the controls would be basic such as 'w,a,s,d' to move around the level to view the atmosphere and environment. This idea is to only create a 3D landscape, so I only want to know what others think of this landscape that I would be creating and possibly how the atmosphere feels if I add music. My idea will be created on Unreal Engine on the PC platform.

7 Idea One What research will I be carrying out?
Before and during the creation of my 3D landscape, I will be researching different games that have the same type of environment that I'd be creating. A specific game that comes to mind is Slender. Since slender is based inside a forest, it's pretty good for my idea, however Slender doesn't contain a lake so I'd need to look up multiple games that have a forest and a lake in one level. I’ll also be researching actual lakes online, some lakes taken as photographs and some lakes painted to see the different types of lakes there are as well as the different frames that the lakes are being taken from.

8 Idea Two What’s My Product?
For my second idea, I was thinking of creating a basic house, not a horror house, not a musical house of any sort, just a normal house that a normal person lives in inside Unreal Engine.

9 Idea Two Why? I was thinking of doing this idea since I think it gives off more of a challenge than idea one, I think this because when creating a house, you need to add each room such as a bedroom, bathroom, kitchen and front room, this means different sized and textured walls as well as multiple 3D models in each room such as a bath and toilet inside the bathroom, Bed and wardrobe in the bedroom and a fridge and microwave in the kitchen and many more 3D models. I feel like this may be too much for me though since there seem to be a lot of 3D models that I would have to create, that means using a lot of time unwrapping, texturing and modelling.

10 Idea Two Why is it important to me?
This idea is important to me because one day I want to be able to create a game by myself as well as creating different types of levels as a level editor. In almost every game I play there's some sort of house, shack or room inside the game, so I'll most likely need to know how to create a house and gather more experience when creating one. I've created rooms in Unreal Engine before so I know how to create them, however I feel l should have more experience when it comes to creating rooms inside Unreal Engine.

11 Idea Two What skills am I going to be using?
I'm going to be using multiple skills since I'm going to be 3D modelling inside Unreal Engine, these skills include bevelling, extruding, texturing, unwrapping, modelling and much more! Each model is going to be unwrapped differently since each model is a different size and shape.

12 Idea Two Who is my target audience?
My target audience is aimed at young teens since my game’s genre is adventure. This is because the player will only be walking around a house, so they'd only need to use the 'w,a,s,d' keys to walk around inside the house. I only want to know what the player thinks of the house and if the house looks realistic or not and how I could improve on it. My idea will be created on Unreal Engine on the PC platform.

13 Idea Two What research will I be carrying out?
When creating my second idea, I'm going to be researching different games that include 3D houses, not only this, but I'd be using primary research which would be me walking around my house, looking at the different objects that each room would contain so I would know what to put in each room. I will also be looking at paintings of houses online to see the different types of houses and what each house would look like from the inside.

14 Idea Three What’s My Product?
Since I want pursue the path of becoming a level editor, my final idea has to involve level editing so my third and final idea is a small forest that includes 3D modelling, sounds and music. Everything that a level should consist off.

15 Idea Three Why? I want to create this final idea so that I get more of an understanding of a level such as creating my own music, atmosphere, sounds and 3D models. In the future I want to be able to create my own games as well as pursuing the path of a level editor, so I'd need to understand the key elements of creating a level.

16 Idea Three Why is it important to me?
This idea is important to me so that I can carry on pursuing the path of a level editor as well as understand each key element of what a level consists of such as sounds, music and 3D models. If I choose to follow up with this idea, I feel like I can create a small forest which contains different sounds as well as calm, slow music in the background.

17 Idea Three What skills am I going to be using?
When going through this idea, I'll be using multiple skills inside Unreal Engine such as bevelling, extruding, unwrapping, texturing, editing sounds, creating my own sounds, importing sounds, raising and lowering terrain and many more. Since there wont be a lot of models, the unwrapping and texturing should be quick and easy...hopefully. This should save me enough time to create my own sounds.

18 Idea Three Who is my target audience?
My target audience is aimed at young teens since my game’s genre is adventure. It’s not a high target audience since it’s only basic buttons as well as a basic scene. I would like to know what others think of my level so that I can develop my skills in level editing, this is my focus when creating these ideas. My idea will be created on Unreal Engine on the PC platform.

19 Idea Three What research will I be carrying out?
When going through this idea, I'll be researching multiple games that contain a forest. I'll most likely be going through the same research that my first idea had which was looking up games like Slender that contain a forest, but in this scenario Slender is a pretty good example, however Slender is a horror game so I'd most likely just use Slender as an example for the forest but not for the music and sounds, I'd most likely look up different games for the sounds and music. Another game that I’d be using as a reference is Zelda, breath of the wild since it has lots of different types of forests within the game. I’ll also be using the internet to look at photographs that have been taken off trees within forests as well as looking at paintings off different forests to get an idea of they type of forest I could create as well as the atmosphere the forests give off. For the music, I’ll be researching the same games as well as walking around the forest near my neighbourhood to understand the different types of sounds that could be heard inside a forest.
