Fence Modification Project
15 miles of failing Right of Way fence will be replaced with Game fencing Fences will be placed within the existing Right of Way Project planned to begin in April 2018. Modifications to ADOT game fence standards by including 18 inch smooth bottom wire (Existing standard is 16 inches) Fence modifications will include “elk jumps” at strategic locations within the project footprint and “goat bars”

Pronghorn “Goat Bar” Fence Modifications
In April 2016, AZGFD and ADOT modified the existing fence at the bottleneck location (MP ) Locations will stay in place after full fence modification occurs in 2018 In January 2017, AZGFD collared 22 pronghorn. Data will be coming in December 2017 which will be used to assess effectiveness of modifications

Recommendations Install ADOT Game Fence in Place of Type I or Type II Fence Where Feasible If possible, set back Right of Way fences when incorporating pronghorn connectivity into projects Maintenance Projects…… Unique opportunities may be present Local wildlife professionals and roadway engineers should keep in early and frequent contact about possible project ideas/concerns to achieve results on the ground
