1 Majlis Khuddāmul Ahmadiyya Canada
Ijlās ‘Ām Majlis Khuddāmul Ahmadiyya Canada

2 Tilawat & Translation (2: 262-263)
The similitude of those who spend their wealth for the cause of Allah is like the similitude of a grain of corn which grows seven ears, in each ear a hundred grains. And Allah multiplies it further for whomsoever He pleases; and Allah is Bountiful, All-Knowing.  They who spend their wealth for the cause of Allah, then follow not up what they have spent with taunt or injury, for them is their reward with their Lord, and they shall have no fear, nor shall they grieve.

3 Tilawat & Translation (2: 262-263)

4 Pledge of a Khādim

5 Pledge of a Khādim I bear witness that there is none worthy of worship accept Allah, He is One and has no partner, and I also bear witness that Muhammad (ﷺ) is His servant and His messenger. I solemnly pledge that I shall always be ready to sacrifice my life, wealth, time and honour for the sake of my faith, country and nation.

6 Pledge of a Khādim Likewise, I shall be ready to offer any sacrifice for guarding the institution of Khilāfat Ahmadiyya. Moreover, I shall deem it essential to abide by any 'Marūf' decision made by Khalīfatul Masīh. Inshā’Allāh

7 Poem

8 Poem – English Translation
O young ones of the Jama`at, I have something to say, but on the condition that my message should not be a waste I would like to give you some advice, so that there is no blame on me afterwards When we pass away, all of the responsibilities shall fall upon your shoulders; forsake the slackness; do not seek comforts Know that service to religion is a Grace of Allah; do not ever seek (worldly) rewards in return for it Discard greed, develop righteousness and contentment; do not let wealth become your beloved, nor let wealth become a luxury Become inclined, whole-heartedly to regularity in Prayer and Fasting; never ignore any part of the Commandments If you possess wealth, then Zakat and Alms from it; have constant concern for the needy, not grief for the days.

9 Importance of Financial Sacrifices

10 WHAT IS FINANCIAL SACRIFICE?

11 W H A T ? FINANCE = Money ($$$$$$)
SACRIFICE = An act of giving up something valued for the sake of something else regarded as more important or worthy. Finance is defined as money. Sacrifice is defined as an act of giving up something valued for the sake of something else regarded as more important or worthy.

12 SO FINANCIAL SACRIFICE...
Is the act of giving up money with the expectation that something better will be returned. So Financial Sacrifice is the act of giving up money with the expectation that something better will be returned. You see, as humans, we are always striving to get better. We are willing to trade something of less value, for something of greater value. And this is not something new, as it has been the case ever since mankind was created. Constantly, and consistently, we are engaged in trading. Willing to give up one thing for another that we perceive is better for us. Take a look at the technology around you, it has been created to make life easier, better, and more comfortable. So what are we expecting to get by giving up money?

13 WHY give my hard earned money?
By no means shall you attain righteousness unless you spend out of that which you love; and whatever of good you spend, Allah knows it well. (Holy Qur’an, 3:93) It is righteousness that we hope to attain by giving up our wealth. The Holy Qur’an in Chapter 3, Surah Al-Imran, verse 93 states “By no means shall you attain righteousness unless you spend out of that which you love; and whatever of good you spend, Allah knows it well.” What we have to obtain out of this verse is that we are being emphatically informed that we have to spend that which we love. What do we love that we can spend out of? It is money, it is wealth! In return, we get righteousness! Now, righteousness is a word that we have heard many a times. Sometimes we use the word “Taqwa” in its place. Many are probably wondering what this “righteousness” is?

14 TRUTH HONESTY INTEGRITY JUSTICE FAIRNESS GOODNESS
What is Righteousness? TRUTH HONESTY INTEGRITY JUSTICE FAIRNESS GOODNESS Righteousness to some degree can be defined as the rehabilitation of basic human values such as speaking the truth, adopting honesty, integrity, justice, being fair, having a concern for others, and having an overall commitment to goodness. The fact that a person gives up money, and spends it in the cause of God, allows him/her to rehabilitation these values! This is the meaning of attaining righteousness! Righteousness is a non-exhaustive (never-ending) list of things we can attain which includes peace of mind, self-satisfaction, individual peace, success in all spheres of life, prosperity, etc.! The price for attaining this prosperity is spending out of that which we love. At this point, it is also important to remember the verse of the Qur’an also emphasizes that a person will NOT achieve righteousness unless he spends. Therefore, spending out of our wealth is a MUST-condition to attain this reward from Allah.

15 Another beautiful verse...
The likeness of those who spend their wealth in the way of Allah is as the likeness of a grain... Continuing the subject and benefit of spending, it is stated in a verse, that those who spend their wealth is the likeness of a grain... In the picture, you can see how small a grain is and how many grains there are. So the verse states, that those who spend their wealth is the likeness of a grain...

16 Another beautiful verse...
...it grows seven ears, each ear has hundred grains. Allah gives manifold increase to whom He wills. And Allah is All-Sufficient for His creatures’ needs, All-Knower.” -Holy Qur’an, 2:262 And that grain grows seven ears. An ear is a stem on which more grains grow (grains that number in hundreds). So what it means is that from the one grain, there are 7 ears grow. And each ear contains a hundred grains. This is why, in the entire verse, it is stated that those who spend, their example is like that of a grain, and each grain grows seven ears, and each ear has hundred grains. Allah gives manifold increase to whom He wills. And Allah is All-Sufficient for His creatures’ needs, All-Knower.

17 (Tirmidhi Babu Fadlul Nafqatu Fi Sabilillah)
What does this all mean? “Whoever spends anything in the cause of Allah, is rewarded seven hundred times more” -Holy Prophet (sa) (Tirmidhi Babu Fadlul Nafqatu Fi Sabilillah) And this particular verse is beautifully summarized in this hadith where the Prophet (sa) says “Whoever spends anything in the cause of Allah, is rewarded seven hundred times more” Now those of us who have studied finance, where can we find a company or stock that gives us a return of 700%? It is impossible to even consider such a return. And yet, it exists!

18 Yet another verse... Who is he who will lend Allah a goodly loan? So He will increase it manifold for him, and he will have a generous reward” -Holy Qur’an, 57:12 In another verse of the Qur’an it is stated that the money that is being spent, it is in the form of a loan which is being lent. And the purpose of this loan is to return it to the one who gave the loan many times than the original amount.

19 The importance of spending now...
O ye who believe! Spend out of what We have bestowed upon you before the day comes wherein there shall be no buying and selling, nor friendship, nor negotiation, and it is those who disbelieve that do wrong to themselves -Holy Qur’an (2:196) My brothers, the talk of spending in the way of Allah, is important to remember and apply particularly because of this verse which states O ye who believe! Spend out of what We have bestowed upon you before the day comes wherein there shall be no buying and selling, nor friendship, nor negotiation, and it is those who disbelieve that do wrong to themselves The emphasis here that must be remembered is that we have to spend what we have today, and not leave it to the future, as it must be done before the day of judgment.

20 And when you spend... “Spend with an open heart, because then Allah will spend upon thee” -Holy Prophet (sa) (Sahih Muslim Kitabu Zakat) And when it comes to spending, not only should it be done with haste, it should also be done with an open heart, because then Allah will spend upon thee as stated in this beautiful hadith.

21 So we are advised... “A believer should never hesitate or be reluctant to spend in the way of Allah” -Hadhrat Khalifatul Masih V (aa) (Friday Sermon, January 9, 2015) Keeping in mind these words of the Prophet, and verses of the Qur’an... Hazrat Khalifatul-Masih V(aa) advises us that when it comes to spending in the way of Allah, NEVER be reluctant! He says in his Friday sermon of Jan 9, “Among many commandments of the Almighty God, one is to spend in His cause. Therefore, a believer should never hesitate or be reluctant to spend in the way of Allāh...

22 Distribution of Wealth...
Financial Sacrifice Tabligh Publication of the Holy Qur’an & other literature Construction of Mosques / Mission Houses Establishment of Schools Establishment of Radio Stations to broadcast teachings of Islam Hospitals Other Humanitarian works Because today, it is the Ahmadiyya Jamā‘at alone that spends wealth towards noble and charitable causes only to seek the pleasure of the Almighty God. Among these noble causes is the propagation of Faith, training of the missionaries and their appointments in the field, publication of literature and the Holy Qur’ān, construction of mosques and mission houses and schools, establishment of radio stations in various parts of the world to spread the teachings of the True Faith, construction of hospitals and running of various other humanitarian projects. In short, there are many other projects the Jamā‘at is working on to meet its obligations towards the rights of Allah and the rights of men.

23 (Sahih Muslim Kitabul Zakat)
At time of collection... “When the collector of Sadaq comes to you, he should return well pleased” -Holy Prophet (sa) (Sahih Muslim Kitabul Zakat) And so, when our Ashra M’al starts, and collection begins, during this time, someone will visit you or call you, and ask you to pay the prescribed amounts for the chanda. Your reaction in this time must be that of what the Prophet taught us... “When the collector of Sadaq comes to you, he should return well pleased”. Our first duty in keeping mind these words is that we should pay according to our income, at the prescribed rate. And just remember, that currently, the love for accumulation of wealth is what fills our heart. To make place for God, we have to rid ourselves of this materialistic desire. Only then, can the love of Allah flow into our hearts like a river flows down a valley, and fills the river.

24 Inspiring Incidents – Friday Sermon January 9, 2015

25 How it works? Membership:- Ijtima`:-
With income  1% of annual net income Without income  $36 Ijtima`:- With income  2.5% of annual net income divided by 12 Without income  $30 The breakdown of how much chanda needs to be paid for Khuddam is as shown on the slides: There are two categories of people, those who are working either full time or part-time and those that have absolutely no source of income. So if you are a student or currently unemployed with no source of income, your membership Chanda is $36, and Ijtima chanda is $30. For those that have some level of income, the membership Chanda is based on 1% of income. Please note that this includes both full-time and part-time working students.
