8. Salem Witch Trials New England prosecuted suspected witches
Always suspicious when cattle or children became sick or died
Salem tried, convicted, and executed 19 suspected witches along with 2 dogs

9. The Pequot War Pequot War Main Causes Rivalry over control of trade

10. The Pequot War Puritans accused Pequot of murdering an English trader
Allied with Pequot enemies and attacked villages
Pequot retaliated and attacked Puritan villages
In turn, the Puritans burned a Pequot village killing most of its inhabitants people

Pequot nearly eliminated
They lost all of their lands

11. Wampanoag chief, Metacom (King Philip), led attacks against Plymouth Colony
Began when Plymouth Colony arrested, tried, and executed 3 Wampanoag men for the murder of a Native.
This undermined Metacom’s self-autonomy
Acquired guns and destroyed 12 New England towns
Colonist burn the Indian’s crops
Wampanoag ended up losing most of their lands
Others fled to Canada
