Salary Planner Self Service Banner

Login to Self Service Banner; select Employee.

Select Salary Planner.

Select Edit Scenario.

Choose appropriate Extract ID and Scenario; BAM will provide you with this criteria at later time. Choose your Filter Criteria. In most cases, you will select Position Attributes so that you can view full Org(s). However, if you want to search for a specific individual, you can choose By Employee Name.

The Position Filters screen is where you will select which Org and/or Employee Class you would like to access. You can also choose whether you want the Org listed By Employee or By Position. *You have the ability to choose specific Employee Classes or view ALL *Leave Bargaining Unit and Faculty Rank at ALL *You can choose whether you want to Include Vacant and/or Pooled Positions TIP: To select multiple Orgs: SHIFT will allow you to select a consecutive group of Orgs; CTRL will allow you to select multiple, non-consecutive Orgs.

List by Employee will give you the FTE and salary overview for everyone in the selected Org and Employee Class. From this screen, you will select the individual you wish to view/change. *You can click the Org hyperlink to get back to the all inclusive Org list above.

Job Changes: The Employee Detail screen is where you will make FTE and/or Salary changes for an employee. Salary change can be made by Percent or Amount. SAVE any changes. Proposed Salary is the annual salary that will be rolling into FY 2018.

Job Changes: On hourly employees, you will enter the percent change or the full-year change amount. The system will calculate the new hourly rate and the new annual salary under Proposed Rate and Proposed Salary, respectively.

Two Kinds of Funding Distributions
Job Distribution – The Fund(s) from which a person (JOB) will be paid as of July 1st. Future changes will be done via EPAF. Position Distribution – The Fund(s)/Account(s) from which a person will be paid for the full year (includes future funding changes) as a percentage of total salary. This number will remain until the next budget cycle. *Most like what used to be on U63, but without the effective dates.

Funding Distribution Example
Pistol Pete makes $120,000. He will be equally split between two funds for half of the year. Then, he will be split funded on two different funds for the rest of the year. Job Distribution – July 1st distribution $60,000: % on $60,000: % on Position Distribution $30,000: % on $30,000: % on $30, % on $30, % on

Funding Distribution Example

Job Changes: After you have solidified any FTE/Salary Changes, you will review/edit the Job Distribution by clicking on the Distribution link. Click on List By Employee to toggle back to full employee list for the Org.

Job Labor Distribution screen is where you will make funding changes for that Job. To edit current funds, click the Percent hyperlink in the Proposed section. To add an additional fund, click on Add A New Record.

To add a new funding distribution, you will need to enter: Fund, Account, Location and Percent ONLY. Then SAVE.

Review your changes. Make sure it adds up to 100%.
Compare your Proposed Job Distribution to the Proposed Position Distribution to decide if you need to make changes. You can use the bottom buttons to copy the Job Distribution to the Position or vice versa. If they will be different, you will make changes to the Position Distribution on another screen.

Position Changes: From the List by Position screen, you can change the Proposed Budget by either Percent or Amount, or drill down to view and/or change the Position Distribution. It will automatically adjust if there is a Job Rate Change. The Proposed Budget on this form should be greater than or equal to Estimated Fiscal Year Budget (except for Temps/Pooled Positions). The amount encumbered from the Job is located under the Estimated Fiscal Year Budget.

The Position Distribution screen is where you will make any funding changes for that Position. To edit current funds, click the Percent hyperlink in the Proposed section, just like for the Job. To add an additional fund, click Add A New Record. * Remember your distribution needs to equal 100%. * The Job Distribution for the current incumbent is listed at the bottom as a reference. You have the option to Copy the Distribution back to the Job here, if needed.

REPORT DOWNLOAD: To create an up-to-date list of Employees or Positions, use the Download Job Data or the Download Job and Distribution buttons on the bottom of the List By pages.

Reminders Labor Distributions:
Job Distribution is where you want a person paid as of July 1, 2017. Position Distribution is where you will account for any changes in distribution that you expect during the year. Click SAVE any time you leave a screen to ensure your changes will hold. The minus “-” must be in front of the amount keyed if reducing a budget. Change amounts do not require a decimal. A $100 increase can be keyed as either “100” or “100.00”. To clear a change amount, replace it with a $0. Do Not enter any values in the fields/columns labeled “Do Not Use”. All changes should be made in the “Fiscal Year Budget” fields.

Reminders The Position funding dollar amount will update if/when there is a rate change to a Job. Any changes to FTE/Salary via EPAF will be brought into Salary Planner through a nightly Add/Delete Function. If you change a Salary or FTE that affects benefits, you need to give explanation in the Comments field.
