8 Phase 1 Existing Conditions Highlights CTtransit New Haven Evaluation
What already performs well? Good performance with transit propensity and system coverage Majority of weekday routes provide more than 6AM-10PM span of service Less than 15 minute headways on high ridership routes Where is there room for improvement? Majority of routes 6-11 bus stops per mile Reduced weekend span of service Wide headways for some routes Numerous route variations Inconsistent headways No limited-stop or priority transit Absence of coordinated schedules with rail service on weekends Bus customer information not on par with peer agencies

9 Moving Forward Step 1: Education Campaign
Fundamentals of a Successful Transit System: What are the basic components of a well- designed transit system? Who benefits from a successful transit system? CTtransit New Haven ScoreCard: How far have we come and where is there room for CTtransit New Haven improvement? How can you make a difference? Transit Tool-Kit: Strategies to consider for a successful upgrade of CTtransit New Haven

10 Let’s Get Started! ReMix Demonstration of Route Planning Fundamentals
Questions to Consider How often will the bus stop? Where will the bus operate? Are roads one-way? Are they congested? Is the street suitable for safe operation? Can bus stops be effectively located? Is there sufficient population, employment and transit-propensity? How long will the route take? Should it be direct or have diversions? Does it connect with other routes and modes? How often and how long should it operate? How much will it cost to operate and is funding available? Will it be productive?
