60 Technology For You Computer Labs Banner Email Blackboard Library
SmarThinking LTAC While you are taking classes at RGC, you will have access to a myriad of technological resources. This includes, but is not limited to, computer labs with PCs available for your use, on-line courses, , and systems providing research and enrichment.

61 COMPUTER LABS Technology For You
Among the most immediately visible resources at your disposal, are the computer labs. As an RGC student, you have access to open computer use. There are student labs on all of the RGC campuses. They are open during class hours, and during office hours. There you will find PCs with internet access, printers, and productivity software. It is an excellent place to go when you want to access the Blackboard or systems. As an RGC student with and RGC student ID card, you will also have access to the Southwest Texas Junior College library computers, during SWTJC open hours and some limited times over the weekend. And of course, if you should find yourself visiting the Alpine campus of Sul Ross State University, you will have access to the library and computer resources there as well. Technology For You

62 BANNER Technology For You
If you’ve gotten as far as this orientation, you’ve probably already seen the Banner system. It’s the system that facilitates your course enrollments, student records, and tuition payments. Technology For You

63 EMAIL Technology For You
As a student, you also have access to the university’s systems. This is where you will be receiving official student correspondence from your professors, university staff, and from your fellow students. You never know when an important or exciting will arrive, so please, check early and check often. Technology For You

64 BLACKBOARD Technology For You
Many of your courses will utilize the Blackboard system. This is the delivery system used to provide RGC’s on-line web courses. Even many live classroom courses will make use of the Blackboard, for providing handouts, quizzes, and communications. You’ll find that every Blackboard course will have a little different personality than the last. Technology For You

65 LIBRARY Technology For You
As a student, you will have access to the library resources that are housed at the SRSU main Alpine campus, by way of the Bryan Wild-en-thal Memorial Library website. There you will find books and research databases. Technology For You

66 LIBRARY Technology For You
You will also have access to the libraries of Southwest Texas Junior College. Bring in your RGC student ID card, and you can browse SWTJC’s books and research databases. You will also find that the SRSU Alpine library and the SWTJC libraries have a book exchange, so if a book is in Alpine, but you wish that book was with you, your local Southwest Texas Junior College library can have that book sent to you for local checkout. Technology For You

67 SMARTTHINKING Technology For You
As an advanced university student, you will be required to produce a lot of written work. Whether from home of from the computer labs, you will have access to the Smart-Thinking system. There you can have your papers reviewed by knowledgeable experts, as well as access to tutorials. Technology For You

68 LTAC Technology For You
And of course, when all of this is overwhelming and confusing, or things just don’t seem to be working as expected, you can call for tech support. On each RGC campus, you will find your friendly neighborhood technology specialist, in the office by the computer labs. The tech is there from Monday through Thursday, during most class hours. You can also reach any of the RGC techs by phone, during those same hours. On top of that, you also have access to the Lobo Technology Assistance Center, or L-TAC for short, which is provided direct from the Alpine SRSU campus, and is an excellent at resolving issues you may have with student logons and access to the web based systems. Of course, if you should find yourself in need of some kind of help during odd hours, or just can’t seem to get a hold of someone, the L-TAC has a web page, which can be accessed 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. Technology For You

69 At this point you may be asking yourself, how do I actually get access to all this… stuff?
Well I’m glad you asked. Technology For You

In your possession, you should have a Banner I D, also referred to as your “A” number. To go along with this, you should also have a pin number. Hold on to those, they are the key you will need to turn everything on. You already know you can get into the banner system with your banner ID, but you can also use your banner ID to access the Lobo Pass system. Lobo Pass is a system that is used to set and reset your logins for the many information systems available to you. You can access this system at lobo pass dot sulross dot E D U . On the lobo-pass site, you will find a login on the left and a login on the right. The login on the right, responds to your Banner ID and your pin number. If you log-in with the login on the right, you will be granted a lobo I D, and will be able to choose a password to go along with your lobo I D. What’s the deal about the lobo ID? The lobo I D of course, is the login you will use for most of the systems, including Blackboard , , and the computer labs.

71 Most of the systems you use, are available from the university home page, using the menu in the upper right corner.

Please remember to check your university student frequently, because that is how your professors will be sending their communications to you.
