3. Overview
The Science Project- Students plan, construct and exhibit a “hands- on” scientific project. They isolate a problem and then attack and solve the problem within the framework of organized logical thought, research, and detailed analysis of the facts.
The Science Fair- Students showcase, compete and celebrate accomplishments.

You’ve Won an Award- Please Come to the Awards Ceremony!
Open to all participants, educators, and members of the public, the ceremony is held 5:45-6:30 in conjunction with the high school awards. Ceremony is held on the mezzanine level of the Student Activity Center, USCA.
Winners will be posted in the lobby and at this link by 4:00, Saturday, March 17

8. Tips for Organizing a Local School Fair
By a teacher…. For a teacher
Initial Planning
Coordinate the Date with your principal
Reserve a location and tables ASAP (gym, library, cafeteria)
Get Help!! Establish a committee/subcommittees
Communicate to classroom teachers and parents- timeline and expectations and deadlines
Determine who will judge, how to recruit
Order/Create Awards (trophies, ribbons, certificates)
Advertise your fair- “Make Some Noise”
Set Up/Follow Up
Assign a number to each project and a time for each student/teacher to set up the project in the space allowed by grade level
Judge Forms (Head Judge will place ribbons/stickers on projects), pencils, clip boards
Food/snacks for judges
Announce winners/advance 1st place to regional level
Thank you letters to judges and volunteers

10. Paul Knox The Bottom Line Summer 2017
“These activities helped influence my decision to pursue a career in engineering by showing me how much of a difference a career in STEM fields can benefit society,” said SRNS intern Caroline Schaade, a graduate of North Augusta High School, now studying mechanical engineering at Mississippi State University. “These programs exposed me to the importance of problem solving and team work throughout middle school and high school which ultimately sparked my interest in engineering.”
