2 The Australian Alps... The Australian Alps are highest point in the midlands of Australia. It stretches from Canberra to New South Wales. The Australian Alps are 2000 metres (6500 ft) tall.

3 The climate The Australian Alps weather includes rain, hail, sleet, snow, frost, strong winds, low temperatures and frequent blizzards especially during winter and spring. During summer the occasional dry, sunny day can see daytime temperatures rising above 30°C but the nights are cool.

4 The animals 40 + species of native animals, 200 bird species,
30 reptile species, 15 amphibians, 14 native fish species, Many specie s of invertebrate.

5 Facts... The Australian Alps are part of the great dividing range.
These highlands contain streams and rivers that flow through the mountains. Once, long ago, the Alps were almost burnt. It was on Black Thursday in 1851. The Australian Alps are the only point in Australia where it snows often.

6 THE CULTURE Is similar to ours. They eat porridge, cereal and toast with peanut butter, jam and marmalade. They also eat roast meat and vegetables and meat pies!
