24 Loyalty Cobb comes first!
Club and outside activities should not come before Cobb Athletics. Communication is the key. We will do our best to accommodate other activities. Continued issues may result in removal from the team.

25 Lockers What to keep in them: What NOT to keep in them:
Athletic shoes Extra socks Deodorant (non-spray) School issued clothing and equipment Hangers for uniforms What NOT to keep in them: Personal clothing items Dress shoes School books, binders, etc… Electronic devices, money, or items of value Please Keep them clean and everything hung up to avoid the growth and spread of Staph infection.

26 Transportation We will provide transportation to and from all games.
We Encourage all students to stay and watch their teammates perform if they play at different times. If you must take your student, please ahead of time so we can work out equipment transfer. 15 Minute Rule

27 Grades No pass. No Play. U.I.L. Rule 3 week progress report. Dressing out and attendance at practice and games is expected from every athlete…. even if injured. Athletes must follow all athletic guideline's as agreed to in our Athlete’s Promise.

28 Parent/Coach relationships
Transition between Youth and H.S. sports. Appropriate topics to discuss: The coaches interaction with your child. Ways to help you child improve athletic skills. Concerns about your child’s interaction with others. Areas that must be left to the coaches: Playing time. Team Strategy. Play Calling. Other student athletes. 24 Hour rule: Promotes an atmosphere for positive results and resolutions. Mean s will not be responded to, so be nice. Which team your child makes A, B, or C is determined by the coaches. Best fit for the team and the player. Not based on raw numbers You don’t get to pick.

29 Sports that require Cuts
Cut sports Volleyball Basketball Soccer Non-Cut sports Football Cross country (time cuts) Track (top 3 weekly) We will always have face to face discussions with those that make and miss the teams. We will not discuss other players that have made and missed the teams. We will judge based only on what we see. We are not perfect and many times, arguments can be made for different kids making the team, however we do have the best interest of the team in mind when forming it. Our process or opinions on what we saw are not up for discussion.

30 Written process begins
Parent Concerns Verbal process Athlete to Coach of their sport Parent to Coach of their sport Head Coach of sport Written process begins Athletic Coordinator Assistant Principal Principal

31 Parent Expectations I will always keep in mind that it is a privilege for my child to participate in a sport rather than a right. I will always model good sportsmanship at competitions by the way I treat all athletes, coaches, officials and other fans. Dozens of fans escorted out each year for their behavior Foul Language, Fighting, and Disrespecting Officials will not be tolerated. I will insist that my child always demonstrate good sportsmanship and treat other athletes, coaches and officials with respect. .

32 Parent Expectations I will always teach my child how to win and lose with grace by the way I act in each of those situations I will always teach my child the importance of competing with integrity and will not help him or her cheat in any manner. I will always remember that while I am not an athlete, I am representing my child’s team at competitions. I will always strive to work with my child’s coach and not against him or her.

33 Parent Expectations If I have an issue with a coach, I will always approach him or her in an appropriate manner, and should I have the need to discuss a concern, then I will follow the process designated by the athletic department and school administration. I will always refrain from coaching my child immediately before, during and immediately after competitions because of the potential negative effect it may have on my child’s performance. I will always remember that I have had my opportunity in athletics and this experience is about my child. I will have a basic understanding of the rules of my child’s sport.

34 What to Expect from your Coaches
To make decisions that are for the good of the team and your athlete Mutual respect To be honest with athletes and parents To coach your athlete hard and love your athlete To discipline and hold your athlete accountable To help your athlete grow mentally, physically and emotionally To help your athlete become a good citizen To challenge your athlete to do more than they think they can To model and promote “Team”
