1 EE496 Design Review: Philip Robbins

2 OVERVIEW > What is your project about again? > What has been accomplished? What has not? > This is a design review. Tell me about your design. How does it work? > How are you going to test your design? > What do you expect to accomplish before the final presentation?

3 What is your project about again?
The Basics > Driver Board is an analog/digital biasing circuit. > input: pulsed TTL signal signifying when to go into forward / reverse bias mode. > output: 500 – 1000 mA forward bias 5V; -35 volts reverse bias to pin diode The Design Considerations > Decrease the weight of the board & components / make package compact => $$$ > Increase switching time => resolution > Must pass environmental tests (mil spec) Load: Pin diode inside a T/R Switch

4 What has been accomplished? What has not?
+ Pulser Circuit to switch between reverse and forward bias (tested working). + Prototype Design for 2 possible fault detection schemes. + Prototype PCB for testing has been developed. + All necessary parts have been ordered - Parts have not come in (expected to arrive right now).

5 Tell me about your design. How does it work?
> Scheme A: Comparator & Multiplexer Fault Detector

6 > Scheme A: Comparator & Multiplexer Fault Detector
> Advantage: Comparator Outputs are independent of each other.

7 > Scheme B: Dual MOSFET and OR gate Fault Detector

11 How are you going to test your design?

12 What do you expect to accomplish before the final presentation?
> Completed testing of Prototype Driver board. > Finalized fault detection scheme. > Second Prototype driver board with size as the primary focus (paper/pcb?). > Testing with sample Elastomers & Encapsulants

13 Questions?
