2 What is a constellation?
Have you ever wondered about constellations You will learn about sky maps, famous constellations and more Lets go high in the sky and hear about constellations

3 Famous Constellations
Orion, the Hunter, famous constellation named from Greek Mythology It is most easily recognized constellation Ursa Major is also famous and very important because it points to North Star Ursa Major means Big Bear in Latin Q/s1600/Ursa-Major.jpg The Big Dipper is part of Ursa Major and helps point to Polaris because easy to find in sky

4 How are they useful? They help people find there way at night
So we know when to harvest To travel across oceans Help our ancestors make calendars Pictures in the sky help us remember where the stars are located

5 Maps There are so many constellation maps
There are Northern and Southern Hemisphere star maps content/uploads/2010/03/jan2011n.g if Star maps are made of brightest stars and patterns that are seen In the United States, we see constellations only in the Milky Way They help us find certain constellations

6 What can we see There are 88 constellations Some of these we can’t see

7 Constellations,They Really are Amazing
They are much more than just pictures in the sky Remember, there are 88 constellations There are still constellations waiting to be found Make sure you look up at stars tonight, you just might discover your own constellation
