4 Advantages customers can compare products and prices at their leisure.

customer must have a credit card. it will take time to be delivered. it could be delivered at the wrong cost. it takes extra charges to be deliver. customer cannot refund the products. they might actually not look like what it appears on the internet. credit card could be used fraudulently. customers cannot check the product quality on the internet. 7 they don’t have to rent so many main street buildings to banks, as they are very expensive.
there is les likelihood of the bank being robbed. less money is spent on security staff. they can employ fewer staff, which means they have to pay less wages to staff. they have to pay for running costs of branches for electricity, heating and lightening. because of their fewer costs they can offer higher rates of interest for savers and lower rates of interest for borrowers, thus attracting more customers. Advantages to banks

8 Disadvantages to banks
there is a less personal touch and so it is harder to sell other services that may be available. there is potential for fraud & interception of account information by hackers, resulting in the banks losing money. there are still costs involved in running the business, such as having to pay website developers. there are initial costs, such as buying the hardware when starting up. they need to retain staff, which is costly. Disadvantages to banks

9 Advantages to customers
there is no need to spend money on transport going to and from the local branch. people with disabilities find it easier than going to the local branch. customers can bank at any time of day or night. they can ask for a loan over the internet without being embarrassed about asking a cashier. interest rates on savings accounts are higher. they don’t have to worry about whether the mail will get their bill payments to companies on time. there is likelihood of robbery & no likelihood of violence. Advantages to customers

10 Disadvantages to customers
They may lose contact with their friends as they may not go out of the house as much. customers must have a computer, internet access, basic computer skills & a reliable electricity supply. there is a small risk that hackers may intercept data & take money from the customer’s account. customers may not like the fact that the bank is not providing the “personal touch”. customers are unable to make cash deposits or withdraw cash without physically going to the bank or to an ATM. customers may mismanage accounts now that it is easy to transfer money from one account to another. Disadvantages to customers

EMPLOYMENT ISSUE it allows some workers to work from home. s can be used to send messages to other employees. there are new computer jobs for employees such as computer programmers, computer technicians, robot maintenance and system analysts. as computers can do jobs more cheaply, reliably and without a break so this results in unemployment. fewer manual tasks, since tasks such as heavy lifting are now done by robots a safer working environment and employees have the leisure time to spend The impact of I.T on society

SOCIAL – LIFESTYLE ISSUE use of I.T to control home appliances results in more leisure/free time. can make people lazy and less physically fit. people can go out more as less housework to do. use of I.T for leisure can make person socially isolated extended playing games can make children addicted to game. MEDICAL ISSUES extended use of computers may lead to injuries or illness. computers are used for testing and controlling new drugs and treatments. databases can make medicine more efficient (e.g. medical records easily accessible) new equipment helps in the diagnosis of illness (e.g. body scanners) The impact of I.T on society

MORAL ISSUES many people break the people by copying, using & distributing pirated software. computer crime is reaching unprecedented levels. Stolen personal challenge & criminal activities. computer viruses are created and spread. privacy is lost due to a large amount of personal data being stored on computers.
