Write the Prompt in the thesis box. Analyze how the meanings of “names” are represented in “Naming Myself” and “My Name.”
“Analyze:” examine in detail. What is the theme? How does the author convey the theme to the reader?
How are literary devices used to convey the theme? Narration, POV, imagery, similes and metaphors.
Are you supporting your reasoning with evidence from the poem?

This is NOT a compare and contrast essay. You are simply analyzing the texts in regard to the prompt.

Example: In “My Name”, Sandra Cisneros uses the imagery of a wild horse to paint a picture of Esperanza’s grandmother as a strong, determined women (Cisneros).
