Coordination and integration of multiple service systems to address the two SEA-NITT-AWARE program components Component 1: Addressing the mental health needs of children, youth, families/caregivers, and communities Cross-organizational multi-tiered framework of mental health supports Component 2: Implementing Youth Mental Health First Aid

4 NITT-AWARE and School Climate Transformation (SCT) Programs
The expectation is that both initiatives work as part of a coordinated strategy to address issues of school climate, school safety, and mental health in a comprehensive manner. May do that within a PBIS framework or a Interconnected Systems Framework (ISF).

5 AWARE: Integration of Mental Health Supports in MTSS
Enhance MTSS framework in partnership with FLDOE Collaborative relationships to ensure implementation of a continuum of evidence based practices Reflect a shared school, family, community- system agenda equitable partnerships Cross-agency (state, district, community and school level) problem-solving teams Cross-agency data and information sharing

Tier 1 Tier 2 Tier 3 School Improvement team gives priority to social and emotional health Mental Health skill development for students, staff, families, and communities Social Emotional Learning/Violence Prevention curricula for all students Safe and caring learning environments Partnerships between school and community Decision making framework used to guide and implement best practices that consider unique strengths and challenges of each school community Systems Planning Teams identified to coordinate referral process decision rules and progress monitor impact of intervention Array of services available Communication system for staff, families and community Early identification of students who may be at risk for mental health concerns due to specific risk factors Skill building at the individual and group level Systems Planning team coordinates decision rules/referrals for this level of service and progress monitoring Individual teams developed to support each student Individual plans may have array of interventions/services Plans can range from one to multiple life domains Systems in place for each team to monitor student progress

Multi-tiered systems of support provide a framework for systematic and coordinated services across school and community Earlier and more equitable access to wider range of EBPs Improved quality of care Clearly defined roles and relationships Cross system leadership and training Increased opportunities for teaching, reinforcement and generalization Accessing services within schools becomes less stigmatizing Increased equity and access to supports and services Cross–teaming structures

SCT/PBIS Commitments AWARE Commitments District Coordinator/SCT Manager Project Manager/Leader District Leadership Team District Implementation Team Overlap on PBIS DLT to coordinate the two School Based Leadership Team at Target Schools Most cases it is PBIS Team Systems Coaching to Support Implementation across District and Schools Districts have PBIS coaches, and in most cases, additional coaches to support AWARE Most AWARE coaches have mental health background Data System to Inform Student Outcomes at Tier I, II and III Performance Targets had to be set at each tier: includes EWS, School climate data, and Universal screener data at Tier I Focus on training and TA to support PBIS Tiered Implementation PBIS Tiered Implementation is necessary for meeting implementation goals overall Foundation for ISF Year 1: Tier I TBD Year 2: Tier II TBD Year 3 Tier III
