2. History of Flag Football
Flag Football is believed to have begun in the U.S. military during World War 11 to prevent

The rules where standardized in the '1950's through the College Physical Education Association doing questionnaires to more than 100 schools playing touch football. These schools gave input as to how to best play the game for fun and safety. The official rules where published in 1952.

4. 1st Down Marker

5. Game Rules Flags positioned at their sides of their body.
Flags on top of their P.E. Shirt. If it gets cold, flags must be on top of jacket.
Kick off using a kicking tee from the 20-yard line.
Kick off landing out-of-bounds – mark it where it went out
Kickoff landing out of the end zone = touchback – 20 yard line.
Four downs to obtain a first down (half way marker) or a touchdown, and may punt the ball on the 4th down.
Teams must declare if they are punting the ball (no fake or blocked punts are permitted

6. Offensive Rules Quarter back, Center, Full back and Wide Receiver.
A huddle can be used between offensive plays sec. time limit.
Pass or run the football at anytime, anywhere on the field
A forward pass that falls incomplete is placed where the pass was thrown from.
Center the football in the middle of the field.
The football may be thrown forward or backward.
All players are allowed to jump and or spin.
Each play must begin with a Center – QB exchange
All players are eligible to catch a pass and must have two feet inbounds.

7. Offense cont… Players are not allowed to flag guard.
The offense has 5 seconds to run or pass the ball.
The QB can run only 1 out of the 4 downs. If there is not rushing the QB, they cannot run.

14. Defensive Rules Man to man coverage, (8th grade zone defense)
Players must allow the offense a 5 second count before rushing the passer.
Defender covering the quarterback must count out loud.
All players must line up on their side of the line of scrimmage.
Teams create a defensive stop by the following:
Pulling the flag from the offensive player with the football.
Forcing a player to step out of bounds.
If a player with the ball falls to the ground.
A fumble or interception occurs or forcing an incomplete pass.

15. Scoring Touchdown = 6 points Safety=2 points Interception=2points
No field goals

17. Penalties Pass interference = 15 steps Holding = 10 steps
Illegal Pass Rush = 5 steps
Illegal procedure = 5 steps
Off sides = 5 steps
A penalty cannot result in a touchdown or safety. The ball will be placed on the 1 yard line.
