How do I earn the new streamlined MCSE?
Earn a qualifying Microsoft Certified Solutions Associate (MCSA) certification
Pass a single additional exam from a list of electives.
Does the new MCSE certification expire?
The new MCSE certification will be added to your transcript and will never expire.
Every year, you have the opportunity to re-earn the certification by passing an additional exam from the list of electives
Each time you earn the certification, a new entry will be added to your transcript.
This process replaces the existing MCSE/MCSD requirement of taking a specific recertification exam every 2 or 3 years.

What if I already earned one of the MCSE: SQL Server 2012 certifications?
Individuals who currently hold an active MCSE: Data Platform or MCSE: Business Intelligence certification will earn the new MCSE: Data Management & Analytics certification for 2016 without having to take any additional exams.
Individuals who currently hold an inactive MCSE: Data Platform or MCSE: Business Intelligence certification can earn the new MCSE: Data Management & Analytics certification for 2016 by taking the corresponding recertification exam OR taking one of the new MCSE elective exams. (Before December 31, 2016)

What if I already earned the MCSA: SQL Server 2012 certification?
Any individual who currently has an MCSA: SQL Server 2012 certification and has passed a qualifying elective exam since January 1, 2016 will be granted the new MCSE: Data Management & Analytics certification for 2016 without the need to take additional exams.
What if I still want to earn either the MCSE: Data Platform or MCSE: Business Intelligence certifications?
Any individual who currently has or is working on an MCSA: SQL Server 2012 certification may still earn either the MCSE: Data Platform or MCSE: Business Intelligence if they pass the appropriate exams by March 31, 2017.
