3 Hiring Process Understand District Policy on Hiring
Make sure you clearly articulate your hiring process and procedures Sub Committees

4 Supervision and Evaluation
Research if your District has an evaluation process for coaches already in place Clearly articulate your expectations to coaches Set up Pre –Season Meetings with Coaches and individual staffs Ensure that all coaches meet the NHIAA certification requirements Head Coach Evaluation

5 Eligibility Understand the NHIAA Eligibility rules for student-athletes Research your Districts’ eligibility rules as well The NHIAA Eligibility Standards represent the minimum standards School Districts may impose more stringent standards

6 Budgets Each District has its own timeline for when budgets are due to the superintendent The norm for the following years’ budget requests are usually in the fall (September/October) Understand the atmosphere of your district

7 Game Management Make sure you know the people who have been working games in the past Meet with all existing game workers to understand their jobs Clearly articulate your expectations for game management procedures What time should people report to the game? Do you have: Ticket sellers, ticket takers Security people, police details Medical personnel, athletic trainers Scorekeepers, announcers, etc. Where will any monies be kept during/after the game Who is responsible for accounting (Do not count money alone) Where do the monies from athletic events go?

8 Athletic Handbook Policies
Does your District have an Athletic Policy Handbook? If so, make sure your coaches, parents and student-athletes are aware of the rules at the outset of the season TRHS Athletic Handbook

9 Pre Season Coaches Meetings
Meet with all Seasonal Coaches prior to the start of the season Ensure they all have the appropriate certification: First-aid/CPR Online Concussion Course Completed Online Heat Illness Course Completed Coaching Principles Course Completed (One Time) Coaches should be prepared to submit written expectations to parents and student-athletes (AD should proof read)
