Cold / Flu
Illnesses caused by viruses.
Emphysema
Disease in which alveoli lose their ability to stretch.
Lung Cancer
Uncontrolled growth of cells that reproduce abnormally in the lungs.
Mouth and Tongue Cancer
Uncontrolled growth of cells in the mouth and tongue. Almost always caused by tobacco use.
Pneumonia
Bacterial or viral disease that affects the lungs.
Tuberculosis
Bacterial disease that affects the lungs.
Treatments for these diseases or disorders include:
Asthma: Medication to relieve symptoms; avoiding activities or substances that trigger attacks.
Cold / flu: Bed rest and liquids; vaccines can prevent some types of flu
Emphysema: No known cure; pure oxygen can make breathing easier
Lung cancer: Surgery, radiation, chemotherapy; survival rates are very
Mouth and tongue cancer: Surgery, radiation, chemotherapy; survival rates are very low if it spreads
Pneumonia: Antibiotics for bacterial type; bed rest for viral type
Tuberculosis: Antibiotics

Get outside and breathe fresh air.
Pay attention to any allergy alerts, ozone alerts, and pollution alerts in your area.
Be physically active on a regular basis.
