1 Access arrangements training
Delete this text box when the information contained here is understood This training presentation is provided as an example only. Centres vary in how they work, how they train staff and the resources they use. Customise this presentation for use in your centre. Rather than overloading your presentation with bullet points, consider giving relevant handouts to trainees during the session. As an example, we have suggested relevant handouts on slides 8-13 to support informing facilitators and invigilators what they may do, must do and must not do when supporting/supervising candidates. 3 Aim of the training To meet JCQ general principles for the invigilation of candidates with access arrangements in that: “Exam officers, working with SENCos, must ensure that both invigilators and those acting as an Oral Language Modifier, a practical assistant, a reader, a scribe or a Sign Language Interpreter fully understand the respective role and what is and what is not permissible in the examination room.” [JCQ Instructions for conducting examinations (ICE) section 7] This slide is for example only. 4 What are access arrangements?
“Access Arrangements are pre-examination adjustments for candidates based on evidence of need and normal way of working. Access Arrangements allow candidates/learners with special educational needs, disabilities or temporary injuries to access the assessment without changing the demands of the assessment... In this way Awarding Bodies will comply with the duty of the Equality Act to make 'reasonable adjustments'.” JCQ website This slide is for example only. Edit or delete to suit your training needs.
