5 Our Basic Beliefs . . . Interscholastic athletics exist outside the school day and curriculum and remain there as voluntary, extracurricular programs in which qualifying students earn the privilege of participation.

6 Our Basic Beliefs . . . Interscholastic athletics are secondary to the academic program of Dearborn High School And provide opportunities to develop loyalty and school spirit, to practice teamwork, hard work, discipline, sacrifice, leadership, and sportsmanship.

7 Our Basic Beliefs . . . Our emphasis is on participation by many, not by few, and on academic scholarship at Dearborn High School, not athletic scholarships to college.

8 Athletic Offerings In 2017-2018, we will sponsor 51 athletic teams
26 varsity level teams, 19 junior varsity level teams, and 6 freshman level teams at Dearborn High School 3 co-operative programs with Edsel Ford – competitive cheerleading, ice hockey and gymnastics.

9 Athletic Eligibility Student-athletes must meet all Michigan High School Athletic Association (MHSAA) eligibility requirements. Student-athletes must maintain a minimum Grade Point Average (GPA) to remain eligible. Grades are checked at the end of each marking period – approximately every 6 weeks. The first marking period of ends on Friday, October 20th. All parents and athletes should be familiar with the Athletic Code of Conduct.

10 Athletic Physical New physical form adopted in – MHSAA approved including heart-check information and follow up. Required for participation in high school athletics. After April 15th, good for the following school year.

11 Activity Fees and Passes
--Activity Fee eliminated in !!! --Admission will be charged for almost all athletic events. Exceptions: Tennis, Cross Country, Baseball/Softball, and Golf. --Family Passes will be $100 and cover admission for parents and middle school aged and younger children in the same household. --Student Passes will be $50 and cover admission for high school students (with ID). --Punch Cards will be $25 and offer 10 admissions for the cardholder and any guests.

13 Transportation On occasion, we will not provide transportation to away events. Typically Edsel Ford, Fordson, Crestwood, Annapolis, Robichaud, or Saturday or other non-school day events. Teams will meet at the site or carpool from school. Primary concern – safety. Secondary concern – cost savings.

14 KLAA Dearborn High will be joining the KLAA (Kensington Lakes Activities Association) in We will play in the “East Division” with Fordson, Belleville, Wayne Memorial, Westland John Glenn, Livonia Franklin, Livonia Churchill, and Livonia Stevenson. The “West Division” will include Canton, Salem, Plymouth, Northville, Novi, Brighton, Hartland, and Howell.
