2 Heart Check-Up Isaiah 29:13 (NLT)
13 and so the lord says, “these people say they are mine. They honor me with their lips,     but their hearts are far from me. And their worship of me is nothing but man- made rules learned by rote.” Genesis 6:5 (NIV) 5 The lord saw how great the wickedness of the human race had become on the earth, and that every inclination of the thoughts of the human heart was only evil all the time.

3 Heart Check-Up Isaiah 29:13 (NLT) 13 and so the lord says, “these people say they are mine. They honor me with their lips, but their hearts are far from me. And their worship of me is nothing but man-made rules learned by rote.” Genesis 6:5 (NIV) 5 The lord saw how great the wickedness of the human race had become on the earth, and that every inclination of the thoughts of the human heart was only evil all the time. Why does a Christian’s spiritual heart become spiritually unhealthy? What is some fruit of having an unhealthy spiritual heart?

4 Heart Check-Up Some possible symptoms of an unhealthy spiritual heart:
You don’t feel like talking to anyone. Everyone’s advice seems bad to you. It is difficult to love. It is difficult to be happy for other’s success. You feel practically nothing.

5 Heart Check-Up Isaiah 29:13 (NLT) 13 and so the lord says, “these people say they are mine. How do we as Christians know our spiritual hearts are becoming unhealthy?

6 Heart Check-Up Proverbs 4:23-27 (NIV) 23 Above all else, guard your heart,     for everything you do flows from it. 24 Keep your mouth free of perversity;     keep corrupt talk far from your lips. 25 Let your eyes look straight ahead;     fix your gaze directly before you. 26 Give careful thought to the paths for your feet     and be steadfast in all your ways. 27 Do not turn to the right or the left;     keep your foot from evil. Starting now how are you and I going to “guard” our hearts?

7 Heart Check-Up Psalm 51:10 (NIV)
10 Create in me a pure heart, O God,     and renew a steadfast spirit within me. How does God create in us a pure heart and renew a steadfast spirit within us?
