1 Pythagorean Theorem and it’s Converse
Objective: Students will be able to apply the Pythagorean theorem forwards and backwards to determine types of Triangles and missing sides.

2 Parts of a right Triangle
Legs – 2 sides that make the right angle Hypotenuse – longest side of a right triangle, across from the 90 degree angle

3 Pythagorean Theorem Only used in right triangles Can be used to help determine type of triangle Can you prove Pythagorean Theorem? Given the Picture below can you prove the sum of the legs squared of a right triangle is equal to the hypotenuse squared

4 Obtuse and Acute What are the formulas to determine if the triangle is obtuse or acute if it is not right.

5 Converse of Pythagorean Theorem
If the length of the three sides satisfy the Pythagorean Theorem then the triangle is a right Triangles. Idea is to use the formula if you know it is a right triangle to find sides and use it to determine the type of triangle

6 Pythagorean Triples Triangles with all sides as integers Also the constant multiple of all the sides will continue to give you Pythagorean Triples
