1 Getting to know your camera.

2 words to know camera lens eyepiece focusing screen point and shoot
image noise pixel megapixel resolution JPEG TIFF ISO DPI PPI

3 also be able to locate what every piece is called.
if you hame a camera from the school you should have the following: a camera, a camera bag, a sd card, a battery, a battery charger, 2 cords, a flash drive, a tripod

4 Types of camera and camera formats
There is no single camera that can do everything. The type or format determines how big a negative it will produce. Each type has its own strengths and weaknesses.

5 35mm single lens reflex

6 Medium format Popular among portraits, wedding, and fashion

7 Large format Used for commercial photography and when high quality is demanded

8 Digital slr (single lens reflex)

9 Point and shoot digital camera

10 Things to know about film cameras
There are different types of film speed depending on what you are photographing There are different film types

11 Choosing a lens There are different types of lens for different aspects as well Normal lens Wide-angle lens Zoom lens Telephoto lens

12 Parts of a digital slr

13 Parts of a point and shoot

14 Slr vs. point and shoot

15 Iso film speeds in digital cameras
Digital cameras also have ISO settings, even though they do not use film. If light levels are too low for hand-held shutter speeds or if you need greater depth of field, you can increase the ISO setting until you have the exposure you need. Increasing the ISO setting on a digital camera increases its sensitivity to the light

16 Iso and image noise Turning up the ISO on a digital camera creates image noise. An electrical signal generated by the camera’s circuitry Once added to an image, detail decreases, resolution is lower, and colors become pastel

19 pixels A pixel is the smallest picture element in a digital-imaging sensor.

20 Mega pixels Every digital camera has a megapixel rating.
This number refers to the number of pixels on the cameras imaging sensor. One megapixel equals one million pixels.

21 How many megapixels do you want
The higher the number of pixels, the higher the resolution in an image. Resolution refers to an image’s sharpness and amount of fine detail. The higher the resolution and megapixels, the better the image (its easier to zoom in and crop an image with higher resolution)

22 Dpi=dots per inch – ppi=pixels per inch

23 Quality and setting When taking your photos you want to determine the file size The one that I recommend is raw- because it is untouched and unprocessed. They are high quality but some programs cannot open them JPEG- a compressed file that is easily accessed TIFF- a simple file format without compressing information

24 Now take some time and become familiar with the camera, in a day or two we will begin taking photos.
