#2 USING CORRECT UNITS PERIMETER: Is the distance around a figure. in + in + in + in = in AREA: Is the square units that cover a figure. length • width = in • in = in2 VOLUME: The number of cubic units inside a figure. length • width • height in • in • in = in3 squared width length height cubed width length copyright©amberpasillas2010

3 Area of a Parallelogram
# 3 To find the area for a parallelogram use what you know about area of a rectangle. A = base x height 3 in A = b x h 5 in A = 5 x 3 = 15 in2

4 Area of a Triangle # 4 A = base x height A = 8 x 6
A triangle is half the area of a rectangle. To find the area of a triangle you use the rectangle formula and divide it in half. A = base x height 2 6 m 8 m A = 8 x 6 = 24 m2 2

5 Area of a Trapezoid A = (b1 + b2) x h A = (4 + 5) x 3 2 A = (9) x 3 27
# 5 4 ft A = (base1 + base2) x height 3 ft 2 A = (b1 + b2) x h 5 ft 2 A = (4 + 5) x 3 2 A = (9) x 3 27 = = 13.5 ft2 2 2

16 #10 Perimeter of a Triangle
Perimeter: Distance around a geometric figure. When you add the sides, you are also adding the units. When you add units, your UNITS DO NOT CHANGE! You must include units in every answer!
