By the end of this lesson, you will be able to 1. know about the Olympic spirit; 2. find out some rules of v-ing and as…as….

2 Task 3 Read and answer Read and make sure the main idea of the passage. The Beijing 2008 Olympic Games were held in August, Beijing played host to 28 summer sports on the Olympic program, and eleven sailing events were held in Qingdao. “One World One Dream” was the theme slogan of the Beijing Games. The motto of the Olympic Games is “higher, faster and stronger”. The Olympic spirit is inspiring as the Games are challenging.

3 Task 3 Read and answer Read and make sure the main idea of the passage. The slogan of the Beijing 2008 Olympic Games showed the Olympic spirit --- unity, friendship, progress, participation and hope. It also showed what the Beijing Olympic Games stood for --- Green Olympics, High-tech Olympics and People’s Olympics. It expressed the wish of all the people for peace and a bright future. We are in the same world and we are all one family. Today the Olympic spirit not only exists in the Games, but also can be found in our life. We should carry forward the Olympic spirit to make the world more peaceful and happier.
