If you prepare, you won’t fear “Si te preparas, no tendrás miedo” Prepare for Summative Assessment #2 by reviewing, practice writing vocabulary and reflecting on traditions studied.

Objectives for today. Describe and discuss in groups one of the 3 traditions we just studied: Christopher Columbus or Dia de la Raza Quinceañera or 15th girl’s birthday Day of the Dead or Dia de la Raza Review in and prepare for Assessment #2 Activities in groups: games on vocabulary

3 Content of Summative Assessment on Thursday, November 4.
Review for Assessment 2. Vocabulary: puzzle and doll page, classroom vocabulary flashcard pages too. SEASONS: hace frio, hace calor…..etc. Months of seasons. Ex: primavera: marzo, abril y mayo. 3 TRADITIONS: (Review questions of slides of these 3 days we discussed in class) Dia de la Raza or Christopher Columbus Day Quinceañera Dia de los Muertos or Day of the Dead

4 We watched the videos on and answered questions about the “Day of the Dead” or Día de los Muertos. What have you learned? What is the Day of the Dead? When is it celebrated? Why do people celebrate the day of the Dead? Where to this come from? Which country? Can you describe the preparations for this day? Food, flowers, dresses, etc. What is the religious aspect? Where do people go visit? How do people act on Day of the Dead?    What do you think about this day?  Is the day of the dead compared to any tradition in the USA? Explain.

5 “Quinceañera Tradition” What have you learned?
What is it? Why is it celebrated? Do other Spanish countries celebrated? What is the meaning of it? How is it celebrated? How are the boys and girls dressed? Is this formal? Is it a religious and family tradition? Describe what you saw in the videos: food, cake, decorations, music, dances. What does it look like to you? Tell me your opinion. Is there any comparison with any US tradition?

What is diversity of cultures? How does it fit with Día de la Raza?
