1 Journalistic writing Vikings Vade In

2 Activity – Dictagloss We are going to listen to part of the newspaper story ‘Vikings Vade in’ three times. The first time you hear it, you should listen really carefully. The second time you hear it write down any sentence starters you hear. The third time you hear it, focus on key points and phrases included in the clip. Then we will partner up and compare your notes – add anything you have missed.

We will then see how much of the newspaper story you can remember. Rewrite the story as closely as you can using your notes and memory to ‘Hug’ the text as closely as you can!! You have 15 minutes to re – write the text.

4 Vicious Vikings Vade in – Passage to read 3 x
Suffolk is under act from a band of blood thirsty Norwegian raiders local Saxons reported yesterday. Farmers working beside the River Deben reported hearing noises in the water in the early hours of yesterday morning. Felix of Waldringfield said “ I was walking by the river when I noticed a terrifying dragon’s head looming through the mist like a demon.” Later that morning, over 700 of the vicious Vikings were spotted mooring their Longboats on the bank of the river Deben near to Sutton Hoo. Terrified local women reported running for their lives in order to protect their children from being killed by the vicious invaders.
