Today’s lesson . . . ascending descending What: Comparing And Ordering RATIONAL NUMBERS Why? . . . so I can compare and order groups of fractions, decimals, percentages. How? . . . by participating in all class activities, taking accurate notes, and completing homework.

2 When comparing a mixture of fractions, decimals, and %’s, what should you do first?

5 HOW DO WE COMPARE DECIMAL NUMBERS????
Start with the LARGEST place value digit and compare. If there is a “tie,” move on to the next digit, etc. In other words . . . Compare the whole numbers (LEFT of decimal point). 2) If there is a “tie,” move on to the TENTHS (RIGHT of dec. point). 3) If there is another “tie,” move on to the HUNDREDTHS. 4) If needed, keep moving on to the next place value digit(s). Tip: Sometimes it is helpful to think of money!
