Joyful, Joyful, We Adore Thee HYMN # 90

Joyful, joyful, we adore Thee, God of glory, Lord of love; Hearts unfold like flow’rs before Thee, Opening to the sun above. Melt the clouds of sin and sadness; Drive the dark of doubt away; Giver of immortal gladness, Fill us with the light of day!

All Thy works with joy surround Thee, Earth and heav’n reflect Thy rays, Stars and angels sing around Thee, Center of unbroken praise. Field and forest, vale and mountain, Flowery meadow, flashing sea, Chanting bird and flowing fountain Call us to rejoice in Thee.

Thou art giving and forgiving, Ever blessing, ever blest, Well-spring of the joy of living, Ocean depth of happy rest! Thou our Father, Christ our Brother - All who live in love are Thine; Teach us how to love each other, Lift us to the joy divine.

Mortals join the mighty chorus Which the morning stars began; Love divine is reigning o’er us, Leading us with mercy’s hand. Ever singing, march we onward, Victors in the midst of strife; Joyful music leads us sunward In the triumph song of life.

THE CALL TO WORSHIP from Psalm 65 [ Pastor / CONGREGATION ]

Minister: God, you will be praised in Jerusalem
Minister: God, you will be praised in Jerusalem. We will keep our promises to you. People: You hear our prayers. All people will come to you.

Minister: Our guilt overwhelms us, but you forgive our sins
Minister: Our guilt overwhelms us, but you forgive our sins. People: Happy are the people you choose and invite to stay in your presence. Minister: We are filled with goodness in your house! Thank you.

Confession of Faith: The Apostles' Creed.

I believe in God the Father Almighty, Maker of heaven and earth; and in Jesus Christ His only Son our Lord; who was conceived by the Holy Ghost, born of the virgin Mary, suffered under Pontius Pilate, was crucified, dead and buried;

He descended into hell. The third day He rose again from the dead
He descended into hell. The third day He rose again from the dead. He ascended into heaven and sitteth at the right hand of God the Father Almighty. From thence He shall come to judge the quick and the dead.

I believe in the Holy Ghost; the holy catholic church; the communion of saints; the forgiveness of sins; the resurrection of the body; and the life everlasting. Amen.

Congregational Prayer of Confession (Psalm 139 and 25) ALL: Our God and Father, we praise You that there is therefore now no condemnation for those who are in Christ Jesus!

In Christ You have given us living water, freeing us from the slavery of sin, and springing up to eternal life; our cups run over with Your blessing! Yet, our gracious Father, we confess that we have returned to the well of sin again and again.

Though it reaps no reward, and doesn’t quench our thirst, we are deeply allured by its taste, though its sweetness turns to the deepest bitterness. Our God, nothing short of Your Divine help will save us from the presence of sin in our lives.

Nothing but Your mercy and grace can remove the pains of guilt we feel so deeply. Be pleased, Lord, to separate us from sin and make us more like Jesus.

SILENT PRAYERS OF THANKSGIVING AND CONFESSION

Words of Assurance and Pardon of the Gospel (Psalm 13:5-6) Minister: But I have trusted in Your steadfast love; my heart shall rejoice in Your salvation. I will sing to the LORD, because He has dealt bountifully with me. This is the good news! People: Thanks Be to our great God!

Offertory “O, That Will Be Glory”

THE DOXOLOGY PRAISE GOD FROM WHOM ALL BLESSINGS FLOW; PRAISE HIM ALL CREATURES HERE BELOW; PRAISE HIM ABOVE YE HEAVENLY HOST; PRAISE FATHER, SON AND HOLY GHOST.

How Great Thou Art

O Lord my God, when I in awesome wonder Consider all the worlds Thy hands have made, I see the stars, I hear the rolling thunder, Thy pow’r thro’out the universe displayed

Then sings my soul, my Savior God, to Thee; How great Thou art, how great Thou art! Then sings my soul, my Savior God to Thee: How great Thou art, how great Thou art!

When thro’ the woods and forest glades I wander And hear the birds sing sweetly in the trees, When I look down from lofty mountain grandeur, And hear the brook and feel the gentle breeze.

Then sings my soul, my Savior God, to Thee; How great Thou art, how great Thou art! Then sings my soul, my Savior God to Thee: How great Thou art, how great Thou art!

And when I think that God, His Son not sparing, Sent Him to die, I scarce can take it in, That on the cross, my burden gladly bearing, He bled and died to take away my sin.

Then sings my soul, my Savior God, to Thee; How great Thou art, how great Thou art! Then sings my soul, my Savior God to Thee: How great Thou art, how great Thou art!

When Christ shall come with shout of acclamation And take me home, what joy shall fill my heart! Then I shall bow in humble adoration, And there proclaim, my God, how great Thou art.

Then sings my soul, my Savior God, to Thee; How great Thou art, how great Thou art! Then sings my soul, my Savior God to Thee: How great Thou art, how great Thou art!
