Introduction In Alberta's electricity and gas market, consumers are given the choice to remain with a Regulated Rate Option provider or a Competitive Retailer. With a Regulated Rate Option, the consumer will receive the default service and rates. With a Competitive Retailer, the consumer is given a choice of various different services, terms, and rates. Data is collected from the distribution companies to monitor residential, farm, small commercial, and large commercial consumers that have opted out of the regulated service to the competitive retail service.
