Recap Why are book covers so important? They tell us about what the book is about. They persuade readers to buy the book.

2 So what do you need to include?
The back cover This is just as important as the front cover. It is the 2nd thing buyers will look at. It should tell them enough about the book to catch their interest, but not give the story away. Blurbs often use questions to make us want to read on.. Will the family ever find Abuela?

3 Examples of Blurbs A blurb is the text on back cover of a book. It is a summary of the story. It aims to get the reader interested in buying or reading the book.

4 What Makes a Good Blurb? They are short in length;
They use attention-grabbing words and phrases; They often use question and exclamation marks; They often use three full stops at their ends (an ellipsis) to leave the reader asking questions...

The back cover A barcode, ISBN and price You might also include testimonials These are quotes from other writers and critics. They praise the book to encourage buyers

8 Task Read at least two blurbs from the books on the table.
