2 Safeguarding Children to enter and leave and building independently
We will be on the door if needed Please contact us or the office if you require a meeting Visitors around school must be signed in and wear identification Late children must enter school via the main office Out of school hours there should be no unaccompanied access to the corridors or classes

3 Phonics Daily 20 minute session
All children working on Phase 5 (alternative spellings and pronunciations) Intervention Group for consolidation of Phase 3 (3x a week) Phonics Screen (June 2018) 40 real and pseudo words Further information available on the school web site

4 Reading Focus is on ENJOYMENT of reading
Independent book changing every morning Please indicate when you read with your child Weekly guided and one to one reading Books and reading records in school daily, for additional reading Library Visits Please read as often as possible, ideally daily, little and often Book Bands are used to assess and change reading levels, we aim to carry these out approximately every 6 weeks or sooner if we feel it is appropriate Reading is assessed according to understanding the text and retrieving information, not on decoding skills.

5 Minute Maths/Mathletics
Recall of basic number facts Rapid recall (1 minute) Everyone start with addition facts to 5 Children progress at different rates Children work to improve their own score week by week Regular home practice would be helpful Mathletics

6 Handwriting Begin to learn a cursive joined script
Children progress at different rates School policy Exemplar given within the pack

7 PE Two Kits Indoor white t-shirt, black shorts
Outdoor black track suit, white t-shirt and trainers Everything must be clearly labelled Children need to take responsibility for their own stuff Earrings must be removed or taped Kits stay in school and are sent home after the last session of the half term Outdoor games – Tuesday; Indoor games – Thursday

8 Communication Book bags not checked
Children are given letters to bring home and encouraged to put in their book bags Any money, slips, letters, appointments straight to the office Communicate through Class Dojo

9 School trips Number of trips throughout the year Local area
There will be other trips in the Spring and Summer terms that have not been confirmed yet Parent volunteers (names picked out of a hat)

10 Class Dojo Reward system
Sign up for messages and class stories – use log ons provided Send messages to teacher, rather than messages at the door (we might forget)
