4. Reading Focus is on ENJOYMENT of reading
Independent book changing every morning
Please indicate when you read with your child
Weekly guided and one to one reading
Books and reading records in school daily, for additional reading
Library Visits
Please read as often as possible, ideally daily, little and often
Book Bands are used to assess and change reading levels, we aim to carry these out approximately every 6 weeks or sooner if we feel it is appropriate
Reading is assessed according to understanding the text and retrieving information, not on decoding skills.

5. Minute Maths/Mathletics
Recall of basic number facts
Rapid recall (1 minute)
Everyone start with addition facts to 5
Children progress at different rates

Everything must be clearly labelled
Children need to take responsibility for their own stuff
Earrings must be removed or taped
Kits stay in school and are sent home after the last session of the half term

8. Communication Book bags not checked
Children are given letters to bring home and encouraged to put in their book bags
Any money, slips, letters, appointments straight to the office
