Presentation on theme: "You can page through the templates and choose one you want to use."— Presentation transcript:

1 The following slides in this presentation are templates for poster sized 42 inches by 56 inches.
You can page through the templates and choose one you want to use. After choosing the Template, you can copy your template selection into a new PowerPoint presentation. Go to file and Save the project to a desired location on your computer. Now you can start building your poster. You want to make sure you size your poster correctly. The Poster is already sized in the template as a 42 by 56 inch poster. If you want to change the size, do the following commands. Go to File, then Page Set-up Choose custom, and enter the size you want for your poster. Example: 36” x 56” You can now start by copy & pasting or typing your text in areas indicated on the template. Note: The text box areas are highlighted in a light yellow to help you identify the area of the text. When you are near completion of your poster you can change the text box area to white. This will give your design a more open look with out looking boxed in. Double click the yellow area in the text box and the color palette should appear you can select the white box and that should change your text box area to white. You can repeat these steps for each text box.

You can copy from your “many slides” presentation and paste into this “one large page” presentation. Font sizes can be adjusted to fit the new format. You can also apply any of the PowerPoint color templates to this large page. If necessary, the color templates can be changed to suit your needs by viewing the Master Page, and adjusting the elements there. You used pastel blue shades in your original files. These would both work, but we might have to make them a little lighter. Please read the .doc file on tips for making posters in powerpoint; it has more information than this file. The rest of the section should be a plain font (this is Times new roman) and should be at least 24 ppi. This is 30 ppi. It’s good to divide this big page into 3 or 4 columns. You can use decorative dividing lines between the columns, or leave white space. You can “box” in sections with results/data, or other sections you want to emphasize. Figure 2 Pie Chart Figure 3 Landscape Picture If you have results or data in visual form (anything that is NOT text) make them large. They catch the eye, and tell your story quickly. Is there a way to represent more of your poster with visual data? Pictures, charts, tables, graphs? Use them. Figure 4 Image area for graph, picture or table.
