Multipurpose trees such as Jatropha can grow well on wastelands with little inputs, and reclaim it.
Produces 15,000 of Bio-Fuel per year.
Use it for Sea water desalination, automobiles, other agro-industrially useful by-products.
Yields of up to 1000 plants per acre oilseeds possible under optimum conditions
Use of Biodiesel is completely CO2 emission free; the CO2 fixed by the plantation could be used in emissions trading.
