Most Popular Programming Languages Today and used in Mechanical Engineering Presented by M.S.c Sarah J M Mechanical Engineering Department

2 1. Java Java is top pick as one of the most popular programming languages, used for building server-side applications to video games and mobile apps. It's also the core foundation for developing Android apps, making it a favorite of many programmers. first got started with Java server programming back in it was so exciting. It’s used to power company websites like LinkedIn.com, Netflix.com and Amazon.com.

3 2. Python Python is a general purpose programming language.
an open-source interpreted programming language. Support both Java and C#. It also used in desktop application development. applications built with Python include Pinterest and Instagram. Web application , HTTP, FTP, IMAP, processing. Service applications : internal combustion engines, and steam and gas turbines, as well as power-using machines such as refrigeration and air-conditioning equipment, machine tools, material handling systems, elevators and escalators, industrial production equipment.

5 3. C, C++ general purpose: rarely used for websites unless they are very high-volume and highly optimized. the language of choice for 3D games. very good at allowing you to efficiently manage memory and good for anything requiring smooth real-time execution. Also used for creating operating systems and anything where you have to interact with hardware at a "low level". Built in function – package function- toolbox. MATLAB written in C. AutoCAD written in C, C++ and some parts in assembly. Solidworks and ANSYS are mostly written in C++ and .NET environment.

6

7 4. C# ( C sharp) object-oriented programming language from Microsoft, C# is designed to work with Microsoft's .Net platform. Interactive with many environments Service applications : robots used in manufacturing, control interface construction, Heat Pipes control, Embedded Systems in Automobiles, Carbon Nanotubes.

9 5. Ruby Ruby is a general purpose programming language, though it is best known for its use in web programming. Ruby on Rails has many positive qualities including rapid development, you don’t need as much code. Hulu, Twitter, Github and Living Social are using Ruby on Rails for at least one of their web applications.

10 6. PHP stands for Hypertext Preprocessor
is often used in conjunction with dynamic data-heavy websites and app development. heart of monster sites like WordPress and Facebook. it's an open-source language, so there are tons of free pre-built modules that you can grab and modify to get your ideal results. Connected with HTML and SQL(Structured Query Language) language . Service applications : mechanical workshop database, online mechanical administration

11 7. Fortran formerly FORTRAN, derived from "Formula Translation
is a general-purpose language structured programming. Service applications : Various mechanical applications

12 8. MATLAB MATLAB is a fourth-generation programming language and numerical analysis environment. Uses for MATLAB include matrix calculations, developing and running algorithms, creating user interfaces (UI) and data visualization. Simulation and modulation. Can connect with many other programs(CAD, soildwork, ANSYS, MS office) It provides editing code (add or remove programming statement to source code. Has many toolbox serve in many domain.
