Overview for U.S. Army Human Resources Command KD / Sr. CPT Assignment Officers 2 Aug 2017, Eastern

2 Purpose Increase HRC KD CPT assignment officers‘ awareness and understanding of the MG Wright Program in order to prepare them to accurately convey program details to officers in their respective populations who are considering applying for a Broadening Opportunity Program (BOP), or to officers they deem would benefit from the program but who had not considered it.

Wright Memorial Logistics MBA Program established by Army Logistics University in FY 12 Advanced Civil Schooling (ACS) Broadening Opportunity Program (BOP) Components: 14 month MBA at College of William & Mary 24 month utilization tour HQs TRADOC, ARCIC, or CASCOM Opened to IN, AR, AV, FA, AD, and LG KD CPTs/Jr. MAJs beginning FY 2015/16 10 officers selected per year A HQDA-approved CGSOC Advanced Operations Course credentialing program; participants prohibited from attending 10 month resident ILE; must complete ILE Common Core at ILE satellite campus A “proponent-funded” ACS BOP: TRADOC POMs for program

TRADOC G-3/5/7 assumed program management from Army Logistics University in FY15 HRC assists in execution: BOP Catalog Assignment Officer guidance to eligible officers Screen officer eligibility OML Panel (informs TRADOC Selection Panel) Pay W&M invoices Officer utilization assignment requisitions 30 total Advanced Educational Requirements System (AERS) positions across the command: 12 in G-3/5/7 12 in ARCIC 6 in CASCOM Precludes majority of graduates having to PCS twice (proximity of W&M to JBLE)

Outcome: Mid-grade officers with the knowledge, skills, and business process expertise to support TRADOC in building the Future Force by enabling graduates to think about management of risk and return as it relates to force structure, readiness, and modernization, and where the Army should invest and divest; graduates earn Lean Six Sigma Green Belt (but not Army ASI) Supports: Army Leader Development Strategy by developing and putting to use well rounded leaders based on the talents they possess not only from operational experience, but also from broadening assignments and Advanced Civil Schooling Army Operating Concept “What all Army operations will have in common is a need for innovative and adaptive leaders and cohesive teams that thrive in conditions of complexity and uncertainty”

Graduation requirement Team project (3-4 students per project) during their final semester (May-Aug) Projects sponsored by Army, supervised by faculty Project support business process improvement in the Army or other Army priorities Requires students to apply the business skills they learned throughout their MBA coursework Completion of the project with a satisfactory grade will qualify students for a Lean Six Sigma Green Belt Certification (not Army ASI) Projects have GO/SES sponsor with O5/O6 level POC
