UCAS application + personal statement 1 week work shadowing in the Mater Hospital 1 interview (Glasgow) Offer! Work shadowing – theatre time, other students fainting, a lot of not knowing what was going on

4 Since then… 5 years QUB 1 year FY1 1 year FY2
Interviews for Specialty Training QUB Diploma in Mental Health 3 years Psychiatry Core Training 4 written exams over 2 years Then 1 final practical exam for Membership Interviews for Higher Specialty Training and Fellowship QUB Postgrad Certificate in Clinical Education Plus countless audits, presentations, conferences, teaching sessions Plus the costs: registration costs (GMC) indemnity costs (MPS/MDU), royal college subscriptions (RCPsych), BMA costs, QUB enrolment costs Exam costs, exam resource costs etc – final exam cost well in excess of £1000…

5 Now Clinical Leadership Fellow
ST4 (1st year) of General Adult Psychiatry Specialty Training (4th year of Psychiatry) Ongoing QUB Postgrad Certificate in Clinical Education ILM Level 7 Certificate (Developing leadership and management capability through enquiry) ILM – Institute of Leadership and Management

6 Future 3 more years of General Adult Psychiatry Specialty Training
2 more years at QUB if proceed to complete Masters in Clinical Education No doubt further exams Definitely further interviews!
