3 Who we are? 1948 - Petroleum and Gas Institute
University of Ploieşti - Economic Studies and the Humanities were set up University of Ploieşti was rebranded into Petroleum-Gas University of Ploieşti a Teachers’ Training Department was set up to deliver courses for teachers’ basic and continuous education

4 Who we are? The Faculty of Petroleum and Gas Engineering
The present academic structure of Petroleum-Gas University of Ploieşti includes five faculties: The Faculty of Petroleum and Gas Engineering The Faculty of Mechanical and Electrical Engineering The Faculty of Petroleum Refining and Petrochemistry The Faculty of Economic Sciences The Faculty of Letters and Sciences

5 Who we are? university undergraduate courses (for high school graduates, attending the university faculties), taught master’s courses (Engineering, Science and Arts) open and distance courses (for some of the faculties’ specializations), postgraduate courses degrees (for specialized teachers), doctoral degrees.

set up in 1992 It offers full-time undergraduate courses in a variety of fields (Romanian and English language and literature, English and French language and literature, Pedagogy, Pedagogy for Primary School Teachers, Public Administration, Management Assistance and Office Administration, Mathematics, Computer Science, Chemistry) as well as graduate and postgraduate courses, training specialists in the humanities, social sciences and fundamental sciences.

9 In-service teachers’ evaluation for the 2nd degree
initial and continuous training, evaluation activities for in-service teachers. Two levels of evaluation: Evaluation for teachers wanting to obtain 1st and 2nd degree Evaluation within continuous training programs offered by the university

10 In-service teachers’ evaluation for the 2nd degree
Examinations for obtaining the 2nd degree take place within universities regulated by the National Law of Education the Methodology for pre-university teachers’ training, which is periodically updated written test (methodology of teaching) oral examination (pedagogy, educational psychology and sociology).

11 In-service teachers’ evaluation for the 2nd degree
training courses are provided to candidates during summer by the teaching staff of the university, covering topics of the exams. traditional way of evaluation (written and oral tests) - the passing mark is 8 for each part of the exam.

12 In-service teachers’ evaluation for the 2nd degree
The results of the examinations are sent by the university to the Ministry of Education which validates them and the university issues the certificate.

13 In-service teachers’ evaluation for the 1st degree
Indicates that the candidate reached a high level of teaching – proved by being able to design educational research connected with the taught subject. An oral examination in front of a commission in the university

14 In-service teachers’ evaluation for the 1st degree
Elaboration of a research paper - shows the candidate’s capacity to apply all his/her theoretical and practical knowledge – under the supervision of a member of the academic staff A final inspection in carried out – 4 teaching activities are evaluated – commission of 3 members (2 from the university and one from the county inspectorate)

15 Evaluation within teacher training programs
Each teacher trainer announces the program including both written exams and oral periodic evaluations. A training course held by the university teachers from 2 counties took part (pre-school, primary, secondary education, school management staff)

16 Evaluation within teacher training programs
4 modules - each module included a certain number of evaluation hours continuous evaluation during the course using alternative forms of evaluation: observation, practical activities, projects. final evaluation of the program: individual portfolio including several works which had to be presented by the trainee portfolio evaluated by means of the following grading system: excellent, very good, good, acceptable, unsatisfactory.
