What are musical skills that this age of child is needing to learn developmentally?

4 Starting and Stopping Teaching a child to learn to initiate, to stop his or her actions, and to wait for good things.

The Nursery manual lists these purposes: To teach a child… Reality and love of Heavenly Father and Jesus Love of family Strength of prayer Truth of the First Vision Beauty of God’s creations Positive Experiences in a Church setting Grow in feelings of self worth How do we do those things and yet use songs that have a small range, few words, and concrete (touchable, seeable, tasteable) concepts? Focus in on the musical and development tasks.
