August 1990-Iraq invades Kuwait January 1991 USA launches Gulf War February 1991 Gulf War ends with Iraq retreating from Kuwait. USA frees Kuwait but does not take over Iraq Iraq agrees to disarm (getting rid of chemical and biological weapons and missiles).

UN inspectors begin monitoring Iraq’s weapons Hussein begins making inspectors job difficult by refusing to cooperate 1993 Kuwait uncovers Iraq plot to kill President Bush during his visit to Kuwait 1995 Iraq admits to having biological “agents” but denies turning them into weapons UN passes 17 different resolutions (demands) for Iraq to give up its weapons programs. Iraq refuses each time and defies the world.

19 War with Iraq Part 2 September /11 Attacks-President Bush declares that any country helping terrorist may be attacked October 2001 Afghanistan invaded President Bush demands that Iraq honor (do what you promised) all 17 UN resolutions or face war 2002 President Bush speaks at UN to gather support for the war. France and Germany oppose the war. England, Poland and Spain support the war.
