2 A VERY POSITIVE BACKGROUND
A historic friendship A direct contact with France (1.2M tourists every year) A strategic partnership … … that will reach an unprecedented level

4 French learning in australia: a very diversified landscape -2
8,000 in Universities 10,000 in Alliances françaises A unique and growing network of bilingual schools A margin for improvement, both in quantity and in quality; the need for comprehensive mapping

5 The current contribution of the french embassy
Supporting the dynamic of bilingual schools: AAFEBS: The pros of bilingual education beyond language skills (seminar in Canberra, 17/10/16) Helping the teachers: financial support to FAFTA, French language teaching assistants, FLE tutors and Master FLE program, the Jules Verne exchange of teachers program Helping the students: Baudin grants for university students, French poetry competition, Campus France The Alliances françaises network: 6 within the major capital cities, 30 in total Australia-wide

6 A new dynamic through creative france
French learning and the promotion of francophonie is part and parcel of the Creative France initiative: to impact our exchanges in virtually all the fields we intend to develop (culture, higher education, science and innovation, etc.) More synergies : a collective effort within the Embassy and with all our partners (how to include this dimension in our events and communications) FAFTA as a key partner, but also including all stakeholders, such as business partners, particularly within creative industries (TV channels for example)

7 Food for thought on possible actions
How to attract new students? Arguments: Culture, business, studies? Which public to target in priority: Schools, students, enterprises, general public? How to improve the level of French learners? How to attract more teachers: Training, exchanges? Next step: Action plan?
